Tulelake, CA— This evening as planned the city of Tulelake turned the switch on to the 2013 Christmas Tree in the Center of Main Street. In front of Veterans Park on the South side. The Jolly Kone in the North West direction and Jocks in the North Easterly.
There was hot chocolate, coffee and cookies being served to those in attendance. The weather held out, as it was a nice day here in Tulelake, today. Compared to the lower temperatures yesterday. The lighting ceremony took place on a nice evening, warmer than expected, than if it had taken place yesterday evening, which was a much colder evening.
The city was represented by Mayor Randy Darrow and Tom Cordonier from the city of Tulelake city council. Former Siskiyou County Supervisor Jim Cook was also present. Lorraine Fine the librarian from the Tulelake Library was also in attendance. The Chief of Police, Tony Ross was roaming around keeping an eye on the traffic control, as one end was marked off in the center of Main Street to on coming traffic. There were other city employees to assist in crowd control and the lighting of the Christmas tree for the year 2013.
It was beautiful, as the group of youngster sang Christmas Carols, before the switch was turned on. At the direction of the city mayor, on the count of three. And sure enough everything went as planned, with the Christmas Tree, now having its lights turned on at the entrance into the city of Tulelake. Where one of the first things people will see as they drive down and enter Main Street. The very first thing they will see is a Christmas Tree in the middle of Main Street.
It was a nice turn out and now the Christmas season has been officially set on it’s way, to finally count down on to December 31 2013, when we ring in the New Year 2014. As one year comes to a close and next one begins.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Tulelake, California.
