"Know me as a person not by my mental illness!"

"We need to break the silence surrounding mental illness, get it into our school systems as a subject for discussion; train our teachers to identify the first signs in their students and guide them toward getting the professional assistance they so badly need."

I tried to do a web on the poster, “Know me as a person not for my mental illness”. But I was unable to find a copy I could use for this article. So I thought to myself. I know where there is one I may be able to get a picture of it and use it for this story I am writing now.

That’s right in the Honker in the senior lunchroom. Today was Thursday and all the card players would be in there. As every Thursday they play cards and have lunch in the senior lunchroom.

It was a little after 10:00 AM and I decided to go and get a picture of it from the senior lunchroom. When I arrived I asked Iva Rogers if it would be OK to take a picture of it, as she knows how much I love that poster and always have loved it.

She said after I asked if it was OK to take a picture of it. “Would you like to have that poster? I then said, “I would love to have it”. Iva Rogers, then said, “Well, go ahead and remove it from the wall. So Iva and I went over to where it was taped to the wall. She was going to try and take it down for me. But that would mean she would have to climb up on the table in front of it. But I offered to do it instead. So I climbed on the table to do it. Then Iva said, “Be careful when you remove it from the wall as it has that wall tape on the back of it. I then carefully removed it from the wall.

I mentioned after I was rolling it up that I would not be back for lunch today because I was working on an article I wanted to finish today. I then left and headed towards home.

When just before I got out the front door of the Honker I ran into Tim Sheldon Sr. I stopped for a moment and we had a conversation about the entire BS I have been dealing with trying to keep the community informed.

I then began to share with Tim Sheldon the following things that were on my mind and that were bothering me.
