Yreka, CA-- PSA Report
There was a meeting yesterday afternoon at 5:30 PM in the rear part of the Yreka Community Resource Center building. Where an agenda had been written to discuss the concerns of homelessness in Yreka.
Other cities have their share of homelessness concerns as well. With Siskiyou County being one of the largest counties but the least populated, it still is a concern for many in the Community of Yreka.
Once the meeting was under way and all the formalities were taken care of and it was decided as to who would run the meeting. The meeting continued from that point on to where people at the meeting were becoming more relaxed and willing to share their ideas and input as to the future goals of having an organization be able to provide help to the homeless, by getting their own 501C3 status. Instead of being part of another organization under what is termed an umbrella group that helps other organizations get up and running, but are under that organizations rules and guidelines of that board of directors. The group started off by discussing items off of the agenda that was written with that goal and purpose in mind. After a short while the meeting was stopped long enough for other branches of the main group to go and meet in the assigned area of concerns for those groups, such as the following:
1. Shelter 2. Food 3. Case Management 4. Donations and Grants.
After the above categories left to meet in their individual groups, the main meeting continued on, after the delegating or problem areas for the groups. To go about brain storming to see if they could report back the progress on each of the above areas that could be achieved for the homeless in the Community of Yreka. What solutions if any, could be found to help solve those problems the homeless face in Yreka, CA everyday on a daily basis.
One of the areas of focus was to come up with a vision and mission statement in the form of a rough draft to be presented at the next meeting on Homeless Concerns for the Community of Yreka, CA.
This small group of individuals seem to be all fired up and it seems have what it takes to get the job done of accomplishing to establish a homeless organization willing to do what ever it takes to get the task done for those they care the most about, homelessness in Yreka, CA.
If people are interested in finding out more about this group and would like to join they can go to Yreka Homeless Group on Face Book. Or stop by 201 S Broadway or call the the Yreka Community Resource Center (Resources for all) @ (530) 842-1313 or visit the Yreka Community Resource Center.
