After coming back home and now back on the streets of Yreka as a homeless person. I had to readjust to the situation and get back into the swing of things. Getting used to pushing a cart on the sidewalks again. Good thing I am streetwise and have done it before.

By being streetwise I get the opportunity to meet people in similar situations but for them there is no home to go back too. This is their life and they have to survive daily until their situation changes or something comes along to lift them out of this life on the streets of being homeless.

Yreka has a great resource for the community and that is the resource center. Even myself, without their help my life on the streets temporarily would be even harder, in order so that I can take care of my legal business, as I am unable to afford a motel room for the length of time I have to spend dealing with the legal aspect, and survive on the streets at the same time as well too.

At least this month I had a little more money in my pocket than I did last month. It can make for a better experience with more funds. But not enough money to afford a motel room yet. I never ask for money, as some people seem to think, they are off the mark. Any money I have received was given to me, I never asked or pan handled to get it. I may have asked for a cigarette but when I had cigarettes I shared them with those who had shared them with me. After a while you get to know who are willing to share and those who are not.

I spent a great deal of Tuesday in the court house as the first thing I did after I woke up. I went to my prearranged court appearance where I plead “Not Guilty” and was appointed representation and the next court date set for May 19, 2014 and a phone interview on the 9th of May.

I decided to turn over all of my stuff to the attorney and let them do their job as we prepare to take this EPO violation to a jury trial. The attorney can get all the necessary evidence, witnesses that will be needed to testify and all the records to be subpoenaed. I am not needed to do it any more. I will then let them do what they know best with the EPO violation case.

In the meantime I will continue with what I do best and that is report the news, write editorials, and articles and posting my book, “Up from here”. Starting with visiting places in Yreka and meeting new people.

I had asked Vickii earlier in the day if they were still having meeting on Tuesday for the group who is organizing a way to have a homeless shelter? The meetings are at 5:30 PM in the conference room of the resource center. After the resource center closed I went to the back of the building entrance and waited for people to show up for the meeting so I could report on in for the TNT blog. This was the third meeting I would be attending with the group.

After the meeting I spent the evening checking out the Catholic Church directly across the street from the courthouse front entrance. I went inside to check it out. I was heading towards the library and Rite Aide when I noticed they were having a service. So I parked my cart by the door and went inside and sat there for a bit listening to the music and sermon at the back of the church. Then, I decided not to stay and go ahead and go to the library and Rite Aide.

When I went outside I noticed there were lots of cars parked by St. Marks across the street from where Randy sits at the courthouse. I then headed that way instead and parked my cart by the door nearest Fourth Street. When I went inside I noticed they were preparing to have some kind of meeting. It turned out to be Yreka Preservation Corporation group meeting. Then I came back out and re-parked my shopping cart by the other door off the sidewalk.

I was informed they were going to have a quick meeting, then afterwards they were going to have a power point presentation on the train that used to travel from Sacramento to Portland, OR. And all the stops along the way of all the towns the train went through from Sacramento to Portland, OR.

I stayed to almost the end and left too before it had its conclusion and headed towards the library and stopped there first for a short break. I was sitting there for a little while when this woman from across the street came over and brought me a bowl of chocolate ice cream and introduced herself to me. It was a nice jester and just what I needed at the time. At the presentation I just came from they had some cake and some water as refreshments. Which I took advantage of as I had not had anything to eat yet. It was not filling, but it was better than having nothing to eat at all.

We continued with our conversation where it was time for me to head to the north end of town and find a place to sleep for the second night. In the process Shelly offered me an extra blanket as she asked if I might be able to use another one. I said, “sure’, I could use another one as it gets real cold about 4:30 AM to 5:00 AM. A second blanket would indeed help to keep me warm. I mentioned I would drop it back off at her house when I was ready to leave and go back home on Thursday.

We parted ways after I shared with Shelly all the information on how to find TNT. I then headed to the Chevron for a cup of coffee before heading to the north end of town again for the second night. I saw Amby and her boyfriend that night and Jim again at the Chevron. Both Jim and Amby are clerks there. Amby and her boyfriend, and I were supposed to meet up at the resource center on Wednesday morning sometime the next day, at least that was plan that night.

After drinking my coffee I headed to the north end of town with my borrowed blanket in tow inside the shopping cart. Having the shopping is a great asset because after awhile you begin to accumulate things, like extra food and other things you need to be homeless on the streets, not just in Yreka but anywhere you are homeless.

I found my spot and unloaded the cart and made my camp for the night with the plan on Wednesday to prepare the legal papers I was filling with the court once the judge signed my papers in the morning as I was hoping she would for my first of two different hearings.

End to another day as I fell fast to sleep after I made my bed for the night to get as much sleep as possible as that is one the hardest things to do for a person who is homeless, getting or finding a place to sleep at night.
