Tickets to be issued to problem, habitual, California Vehicle Code Violators in the City of Tulelake

Tulelake, CA— At Monday nights Tulelake City Council meeting the following things were discussed and some will be reported on in more detail at a later date as time allows.

First up on the agenda was as update that was given by Trina Blanchette from Caltrans, District 2 www.dot.ca.gov where they had just come from Redding, CA to Tulelake to give the Tulelake City Council an update on the March 12, 2014 Workshop regarding State 139.

Trina had mentioned her office had received many comments from Dorris to Susanville. Trina mentioned that there is a 20-year plan to improve the highway system throughout the State that is in different stages of development with different modes of transportation.

Caltrans has been promoting what it plans on doing in the next 20 years by having workshops like the one in which Brett Tulelake Director of Public Works recently attended. Where flyers have been promoted to Tribal Governments, Cities, small towns like Tulelake.

It was mentioned that by Trina that some of the feedback and comments they have received it about High Speed Trucks and soon the opening of the Japanese Interment Camp out in Newell for more visitors as the improvement there warrant as more visitors are expected to arrive in that area of the highway system.

From Grass hopper 82, State 299 to 139 as it was mentioned by some of the comments that were received from other areas about having more rest areas like in the Willow Creek area combined with more Trucking are parking for the trucking industry with more products being transported to the area with an increase in rail service traffic in this area too.

Others had left comments about ideas for more over and under passes, more bike paths and their concerns with the increase in truck traffic in the area were some of the comments Caltrans received throughout the communities they visit as they prepare to start work on a draft summary of Klamath to Modoc over this coming summer.

Jeremy Morris the city Engineer went on to update the Tulelake City Council on the STIP Overlay Project update and closeout procedures and clean up work being done throughout the city of Tulelake. The issue of final payments by Caltrans for the project throughout the basin and region onto the request by Tony Ross and the presentation of the MOU for the city of Tulelake to sign the contract for the 2014/2015 Siskiyou County Dispatch Services.

Where Tony Ross is requesting an upgrade to his video camera system for City areas and the Police Department. Where Mike Weiskoff of Bear Technogies presented several estimates for review for the City of Tulelake. Where it was decided to take no action but to have Mike Weiskoff bring back another estimate on leasing the equipment on 38 to 48 month programs to return when he has that information available for the Tulelake City Council.

Brett and the City Attorney put on the agenda how to terminate an agreement with Almega Cable and its predecessor cable company for failure to pay rent and for failure to respond to safety concerns raised by the Public Works Department.

During Comments Tony Ross discussed the continuing problem with dirt bikes, three and four wheelers kicking up dust where several council members have received complaints throughout the neighborhoods in Tulelake. From the Park Street is where Jerry King lives with the dust being kicked up to the Ridgeview area to the Modoc Ave where several dispatch calls have been made to the Siskiyou Sheriffs Department requesting a response from Tony Ross to several calls made to dispatch about the problem of the off road bikes, three and four wheelers through-out. Where it seems several according to Tony Ross are not getting it and soon will be given tickets for their infractions for violating the California vehicle code.

To finish off the meeting with Joe Cordonier’s history on past history for the city council about a fence that belonged to the city and ended up in a past city council members yard back from 2001 through 2005 or there about from all the grant money received during that time in history.
