Tulelake, CA— You win some, you lose some
It has been a rough struggle in local politics for Tulelake, CA this year. First, there was the recall of the present mayor during that time, Randy Darrow. Where it ended up being a draw where the community was divided 50/50 on the recall issue and Tony Ross who was reinstated as Chief of Police, with the on going investigation. As he has not been cleared, publicly, at this time. With the complaints about the present use, during that time, of using Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office for coverage in Tulelake, during Tony Ross’s administrative leave; due to the on going investigating with Siskiyou County Sheriff’s and the FBI. Over a civil rights violation by Tony Ross, the Chief of Police and another Tulelake Police Officer at the time. Along with complaints, about the present Finance Director Charlie, during that time, and the new water and sewage city of Tulelake Policy, made effective in Jan 2014.
Where Randy Darrow did the honorable thing and stepped aside and the city council voted for Tom Cordonier to be the next mayor for Tulelake, CA. After the recall Election on June 3, 2014 and on April 8, 2014 the Special Election when Bob Hugebanks the Pastor of the Baptist Church was elected to the Tulelake City Council to the seat vacated by Jennifer Engels and he was voted in as Mayor Pro Tempt; due to the fact that both Dar Carroll and Jerry King were not going to be on the ballot or run for re-election in November of 2014. As in the case of Dar Carroll who has been a council member for Tulelake, CA for 32 years.
Jerry King was appointed to Don McCloud’s seat, after Don McCloud for personal reasons resigned, and Jerry King made the choice not to run for the seat, he was appointed to during that time.
In 2010 Dar Carroll, Donald K. McCloud, Richard Marcillac, Tom Cordonier and James Garland were on the ballot, for three seats. Where Dar Carroll, Donald K. McCloud won re-election and Tom Cordonier took over Richard Marcillac's seat, with Dar Carroll and Don McCloud both with 95 votes each, and third was Tom Cordonier with 93 votes, Richard Marcillac with 91 votes and James Garland at 49 votes, in the General Election on November 2, of 2010.
Where Tom Cordonier, lost his seat back to Richard Marcillac, with election results of Henry A Ebeinger, who was a choice on the ballot in the June 3, 2014 recall election of the then present Mayor, Randy Darrow the Mayor of Tulelake during the recall election.
Henry A. Ebeinger received on the November 4, 2014 General Election a total of 100 votes, and the newest person from the Community to be elected to a seat on the Tulelake City Council is Kevin Nicholson, with 81 votes and Richard Marcillac with 80 votes and Tom Cordonier left with 46 votes, out of total of 315 votes cast in this election for Tulelake City Council.
Joe Cordonier, who decided to retire after 21 years of Service did not seek re-election as the Tulelake City Clerk, and former mayor Iva Rogers, who ran unopposed received for the post of Tulelake City Clerk 90 votes. Incumbent City Treasurer Carla Perez, who was first appointed City Treasure, after Kim Kaiser resigned and Carla Perez was elected to the post of City Treasure, in this election and garnered 98 votes, for a full term as the City of Tulelakes’ City Treasure on November 4, 2014
