Why do things happen or not happen

In life it seems as they say things happen or in some cases don’t happen. I look back at my life and think why are people who were in my life in the last chapter or two are not with me now? And those that are with me now why were they not in my life before. I guess once again things happen for a reason, good or bad.
As I look forward in my life as we all do I wonder how it all will end. Not that I am wishing for my life to end. I love my life such as it is. I love whom I am as we all should love whom we are in order to be successful in our life. Otherwise there would be no purpose or reason to go on. It is getting to our next adventure or goal that keeps us all going.
Over my lifetime I have been honored to meet many great people from all walks of life. For me personally ones status is not what I look for in friendship, but rather the person and how they treat people and their interaction with those around them. That is what is important to me. As we get older our time gets shorter in what we can accomplish in what little time we have left to do it in.
To have people cross your path for that moment in time for its reason and purpose in that chapter. We can never go back to what it was but have to keep moving forward. It is not without saying that some of those people cannot still be in our lives but not the way they were in our past. The past is gone and we have to move continually forward reaching for that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow as our lives begin to come to a close.
All while hoping we have in fact done all we can do and no longer take anything for granted. That’s what comes with wisdom and growing older. We hopefully are wiser with our future endeavors and friendships than we have been in the past.
I know for me personally I am always striving to learn more as we never stop learning. When I see things that are written with insight and inspiration and longing for a better life as we all sometimes do. To not take our friendships for granted and cherish the time we did have that no longer is possible now. Just like children, they grow up and so do we as well as our friendships grow along the way too.
Not saying that the friends we have made are not important because they are but we just don’t get the opportunity we had before when those friendships were the present. So we long sometimes to go back, but we can’t nor can they, as those friendships were when we needed each other the most during those times. Now we have new friends and acquaintances that take up our time in what is now the present.
Now the question is where will they be in our future. As we age and grow, so do our many friendships of times past, the present ones and the future ones to come.
