Tulelake, CA-- Fresh Start
By now most people have noticed when they go shopping in Klamath Falls. Safeway has changed over to Haggens. The Safeway store has been changed over to Haggens. Haggens has been around since 1933. They are a bit different from Safeway as they bake all their bakery products from scratch. They also offer fresher fruits and vegetables.
The change over has been in the works for several months. They will be soon having their grand opening and Haggens has been a great asset to the community of Klamath Falls by most recently donating a lot of their products to the local food bank. It is defiantly a new experience for shoppers, along with new employees that Haggen has hired.
One of the employees Nick, who works at the Starbucks inside the Haggen store really likes the changes. In fact, he felt that the management treated him very well and they even remembered his name each time they spoke with him. He really likes the new bakery and the new products they are now baking.
Then there is Tom who is the produce manager who really loves his job. Tom was a long time employee of Safeway and now he can continue working for Haggen as their produce manager. Tom is also a former mayor of Tulelake and my friend.
If you get a chance and you are in the area you should take the time and check out the new Haggen store. In the meantime I wanted to share that by chance yesterday I saw a friend of mine Frankie and her son Calvin from Alturas who I have not seen since 2007. It was nice getting hugs from both of them. As I was sitting inside Wal-Mart using the Wi-Fi from MacDonald's when I just happen to look up and I saw Frankie as she was exiting Wal-Mart. If I would have thought about it and there had been enough time I would have taken a picture of the two of them. But Frankie was in hurry to get back to Alturas as Calvin had a baseball game to play in.
It was nice seeing both of them and it gave me a chance to at least give them both a hug. I haven't seen Calvin since he was three years old, he is now around 10 or 11 years old. It was a chance meeting, and maybe I will get one more opportunity to see them before I leave for Hawaii. I have to go with my friend Margie, Tom's wife to Alturas some time next week to take the recyclables to Alturas. The same great friends I am staying with until I leave next month on the 3rd of June on Amtrak for Portland to catch my flight to Hawaii on the 4th of June.
Take care and God Bless until next time.
