Free Bird

I am finally on my way as I am now in Portland, Oregon in my motel room and tomorrow for my flight to the Big Island. I am finally leaving behind Tulelake and starting a new life on the Big Island in Hawaii.

For days I have been very afraid of this adventure and a bit depressed but the ride on Amtrak has changed all of that. In fact, I met some very nice people on the trip. When I first got on board I was still not sure if I had made the right choice to go at all. As I was very nervous and did not have much of an appetite because I was worrying a lot about this big change in my life for the better. I am now free to write what ever I want now and do not have to worry about what I say or write about as I plan on soon writing what is called, "Tule tales" about what has been going on in Tulelake for a long time. Now I can be as free as a bird to do what I do best, and that is to write stories or articles for people to enjoy them.

If it had not been for the great friends I do have in Tulelake I would not have made it as far as I have now. As much as some people like the Chief of Police of Tulelake would like to say otherwise, I have lots of friends who I have left behind in Tulelake to go on to bigger and better things than Tulelake has to offer me. Such as the small group of people who seem to think they run Tulelake, when that statement alone could not be further than the truth as stated.

Now I am free to be who I am and say what I want and there is not a thing they can do about it as I write the future stories of the "Tule tales" book. It is nice to sit here and have Wi-Fi in my motel room and write to my hearts content and not look around me to see who is there or not there. I am free now, free now to be, "me".

It took a few hours on Amtrak before my mood began to change and I finally felt good about the choice I made to move to Hawaii. I talked with several people along the way up to Portland. My seat mate was a young lady who was on her way to Eugene and during our conversation she mentioned how she has moved around a lot in her life and gave me encouragement and I am more than twice her age. She was and is very wise for her age. I left her and headed to the observation car where I met Larry who was seated across the isle from me in the car I was in. In fact, Larry was sharing with me his experiences on the Big Island and he helped to encourage me even more on the adventure I am on now. We spent a lot of time in the observation car sharing information and a new friendship, as I gave Larry one of my Tulelake News business cards.

After Larry departed on his stop I spoke to his seat mate who was also across the isle from me and she was sitting with Larry, her name was Tabatha. Where she too encouraged me on this adventure I am on now. Phase one of phase three of this adventure. She is from Bakersfield and visiting relatives in Salam. All the people I met today helped to change my mood to a positive flow of things.

After a little bit of a wait on the tracks I finally departed in Portland and picked up my baggage and then was going to try and catch a bus to the Motel where I am at now. It would have been cheaper but not knowing exactly where I was going I had to pay for a taxi and I felt it would have been too difficult to try and find the right bus to the motel. But I am here now and in the distance from the motel room I can see the airport tower. So tomorrow I will pay for another taxi ride to the airport but it will not cost as much as the one did from the Amtrak station, which was about 9 miles in afternoon rush traffic, which again added to the fare but it was easier than trying to catch a city bus or mini train. The taxi driver has a Christian radio station on in his car and I asked him to pray for me to as I gave him one of my business cards too.

Well, I am on my way in the morning to hopefully be picked up at the airport so I see about renting a room from Dan, who I text today while I was spending time with Larry in the observation car on Amtrak. And if things work out as I hope they will I will be living about an hours drive from the Kona Airport on the Big Island. So until tomorrow and my next blog.

God bless all of my friends, those I know in real life and those that know me and those who do not but know who I am and enjoy reading what I write. Keep me in your prayers that it all will work out with me being able to get a room before my funds run out.

Take care,
