Trump needs to show respect for our country by keeping his mouth shut

Klamath Falls, OR— Calling people SOB's for standing up for their rights is not presidential. If anything it shows ignorance and disrespect for the US Constitution. People have the right to protest and not be threatened with their livelihood for standing up for their first amendment rights. Anyone who wants to take away those rights cannot continue to call themselves Americans.

How can you sit there and condone the president of the United States calling others SOB's and still have respect for him. Regardless of rather people are kneeling or standing for the national anthem during sporting events.

3 Ways Americans Constantly Break the Rules on Respecting the Flag

"President Donald Trump is continuing his attack against NFL players and other athletes who kneel in protest during the national anthem, saying such actions are disrespectful of "our country, flag and national anthem.""

"Whether players' pregame protests are disrespectful, a form of free speech, or somewhere in between is a matter of debate. But the dispute has raised an important question: What are the rules regarding how Americans should treat the U.S. flag?"

"As the sports world's debate over national anthem protests rages on, here are several ways in which people commonly violate the Flag Code." Click here.

Flag Code

The laws relating to the flag of the United States of America are found in detail in the United States Code. Title 4, Chapter 1 pertains to the flag; Title 18, Chapter 33, Section 700 regards criminal penalties for flag desecration; Title 36, Chapter 3 pertains to patriotic customs and observances. These laws were supplemented by Executive Orders and Presidential Proclamations.

Betsy Ross and the American Flag and the Flag Code

On June 14, 1923, or Flag Day, a federal code was put in place that would serve as a guideline for how to handle the American flag. A viral Twitter thread brought the almost century-old standards back into the spotlight on Saturday. There are several sections in the code about proper national anthem conduct, how to display the flag, and how to respect the flag in general.

The code does state that everyone during the national anthem, “all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart,” but the guidelines are not legally binding ― more like official suggestions about how to treat what the code calls “a living thing.”

Here are some things that Americans do on a regular basis that are considered disrespectful according to the Flag Code:

The U.S. flag code’s “Respect for Flag” section (Title 4, Chapter 1, Section 8) lists the dos and don’ts for respecting the American flag−neither kneeling nor standing during the national anthem is included under the section.

It is, however, considered a conduct violation.

7 ways people disrespect the flag every day, according to US flag code

Note that there are no provisions in the code for enforcement nor penalties. Instead, the code acts as a guide.

But it is Ok for the president to display those hats he wares claiming to "Make America Great Again" by disrespecting the flag by selling copies of it to those Americans that support him. They should also be fired for disrespecting the flag by warring hats made in China. How disrespectful. But that is Ok, all while calling football players SOB's and demanding NFL owners fire them for standing up for their freedom of speech rights. Maybe it is time for the president to be fired for disrespecting the flag with his hats, that many of you supporters of Trump ware daily and have no problem disrespecting the flag on your own terms. "Do as I say, not as I do", hypocrites.

Shameful, and sad.

And you call yourselves Americans, I think not.
