Another Trump supporter accuser accusing George Soros of the students in Florida of organizing and using their first amendment rights against AR-15's
Klamath Falls, OR— Ex-GOP rep.: Leftist groups could hijack shooting victims' grief
A former Georgia Republican congressman suggested Tuesday that left-wing groups could exploit the grief and efforts of students who survived last week's school shooting in Florida and are taking political action to demand an end to gun violence.
"Do we really think -- and I say this sincerely -- do we really think that 17-year-olds on their own are going to plan a nationwide rally?" said Jack Kingston, who is also a CNN commentator.
Kingston argued on CNN's "New Day" that the student survivors' sorrow "can very easily be hijacked by left-wing groups" and Democratic mega-donor George Soros.
Kingston had first questioned the students' organizing in a tweet Sunday.
"O really? "Students" are planning a nationwide rally? Not left wing gun control activists using 17yr kids in the wake of a horrible tragedy? #Soros #Resistance #Antifa #DNC," Kingston tweeted.
"I think it's very despicable that he would have the audacity to say that," said Brandon Abzug, a Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student who appeared on the show with his father.
"Young people all across this country and all over the world should feel that they have the power to make things right. And especially in the wake of a tragedy, we really show who we truly are," Abzug said.
Abzug also called on Kingston to apologize. "To say that just because we're young we can't make a difference is not right and he should apologize for that," he said.
And now there is NRA board member Ted Nugent pushing a conspiracy theory that Parkland school shooting survivors are actors.
National Rifle Association board member Ted Nugent promoted the right-wing conspiracy theory that the Parkland school shooting survivors who are currently calling for gun regulation are “coached” actors.
In a February 20 Facebook post, less than a week after the shooting, Nugent shared a February 19 Natural News article claiming “these kids were coached to repeat scripted lines, just like actors reading lines for a movie production.” The article claims that “It’s all scripted, in other words, to push a gun control narrative rooted in emotional reaction rather than constructive solutions" and includes the tags “false-flag” and “hoax.” The bulk of the article is a reprint of Lucian Wintrich’s post at The Gateway Pundit, which first started spreading the conspiracy theory.
Nugent promoted similar conspiracy theories after the Sandy Hook school shooting in Newtown, CT, claiming that no assault weapons were used in the elementary school shooting despite the fact that authorities confirmed the shooting was carried out with a Bushmaster AR-15 assault weapon.
"All intelligent adults should remember that high school children simply don’t have the life experience to be informed or knowledgeable on complex policy issues such as gun control, school safety or mental health."
