Roseanne Barr's supporters want to boycott ABC for her show being canceled

Roseanne Barr blames Ambien for racist tweet

Roseanne Barr unleashed a stream of messages in the early hours of Wednesday after ABC canceled its hit show "Roseanne" over her racist tweet.

Klamath Falls, OR— When the news broke that the Roseanne reboot had been canceled, Republican strategist Noelle Nikpour said on the Fox News show Outnumbered Overtime, "We live in a politically correct world right now."

"I don’t understand it to be anything other than free speech," said host Harris Faulkner. "It is extremely offensive but it is just that. And she says in one of her tweets — there were three rapid-fire today — 'It was a joke. It was a miscalculated joke.'"

"She is a comedian," Nikpour agreed. "She does have a very wicked, twisted sense of humor. Everybody knows her to be a little raunchy and a little rough."

"Roseanne made some racist comments, apologized for it and her show was taken off the air. Joy Behar, Joy Reid and Jimmy Kimmel make racist comments, constantly attack this administration for their beliefs in god and yet they still have a platform with no recourse. LIBERAL BIAS!" said Students for Trump Chairman Ryan Fournier.

The 30+ million viewers who watched Roseanne should boycott the network. Hit them where it hurts. We aren’t going to accept the liberal bias while this network still employs people who have personally attacked our President and this administration. #BoycottABC

@RyanAFournier you are full of it. 30+ million viewers. In your dreams and here is why:

1. 'Roseanne' reboot roars with 18 million-plus viewers for its debut

The "Roseanne" revival debuted to record numbers Tuesday night. The ABC reboot drew an estimated 18.2 million viewers, a huge audience considering modern TV viewing habits. What's more, the second episode, which aired right after the first, scored even ...

2. Are the blowout ratings for the “Roseanne” premiere a “data point in the culture war”?

The first two episodes of Roseanne, a full hour at the top of the ABC lineup, won the night by both adults 18-49 and total viewers. The show averaged a 5.1 rating in the key demo and 18.1 million viewers, rising from the first half hour to the next.

The show averaged a 5.1 rating in the key demo and 18.1 million viewers, rising from the first half hour to the next. The first number alone is enough to make Roseanne the highest-rated regularly scheduled scripted show of the last few seasons, since Empire at its peak, as well as the highest-rated sitcom broadcast in over three years.

That’s an incredibly strong start for the sitcom, thus far only committed to nine episodes. The easiest comparison is another revival, NBC’s Will & Grace. The other reboot, one that helped jump-start Roseanne and the current trend, premiered with a 3.0 rating in the key demo and just over 10 million viewers at the start of the season.

I know one guy who’s all too eager to read Roseanne’s success as a triumph for right-wing viewers:

Wow amazing. Congrats @therealroseanne. If you’re not too busy already maybe work in a late night show too... seems there’s some demand for an alternate viewpoint. #Rosanne https://twitter.com/drudge/status/979012420176891905 …

3. Nielsen's top 20 programs for May 21-27

"NCIS," CBS, 12.07 million. 2. "Roseanne," ABC, 10.58 million ... ratings said the 16th season debut of 'Idol' grabbed the attention of nearly 10.3 million viewers on Sunday night. It also scored a 2.3 rating in its key demographic – ages 18 to 49.

So be sure and show us that 30+ Million viewers you claimed there were Ryan Fournier✔@RyanAFournier? Oh, is that 30+ million Trump Subjects or does that 30+ Million also include liberal viewers as well? Typical from the Right. Love to have opinions but are always lacking on facts.

Fox News personality Tomi Lahren cautioned "fellow conservatives" not to play "mental gymnastics trying to justify" Barr's tweet. "Come on. Wrong is wrong," she said. Tomi Lahren✔@TomiLahren

To all the Trump supporters outraged over the ABC/Roseanne double standard, I get it. Here’s the thing, we know we can’t get away with what the Left can. We have to be better. We have to rise to the occasion & act right.
Our words are more powerful when we can stand behind them.

All the support on Twitter seems to have given Barr second thoughts about quietly accepting her show's cancelation.

"You guys make me feel like fighting back," she tweeted. "I will examine all of my options carefully and get back to U."

Jimmy Kimmel on Roseanne Cancellation

ABC today decided to cancel their highest rated show following a controversial tweet in which Roseanne Barr compared an African-American woman, a former advisor to President Obama, to an ape. This did not sit well with ABC management or anyone with a brain, and they announced that the show’s first season would also be its last. “Roseanne” was a very big hit for ABC, but just because Roseanne is gone, that doesn’t mean the show has to. The show must go on and with that said, Jimmy has an idea that could make this work for everyone.

#BoycottABC, sure OK whatever you say Ryan Fournier✔@RyanAFournier
