Room 8 Spirit of Africa. The historic Niles Hotel has charm and a distinct nature. The historic hotel is over a 100 years old. There are no televisions or telephones in the rooms. Nor any AC, but there are portable heaters. I enjoyed my stay and I honestly believe you will too.

Klamath Falls, OR— I planned a road trip to Alturas, CA, and made car reservations with Enterprise Car Rentals in Klamath Falls, OR, to drive down to see the "Friends of the Library 14th Annual JUNE JAMBOREE June 30, 2018", at the Baker's 10 Acre Railway Gardens Event and I wanted to do an article about it because I love writing stories, taking videos and taking still pictures, too.
And after my friend Tony Claytor had mentioned to me about the "Friends of the Library 14th Annual JUNE JAMBOREE happening on June 30th, 2018." I decided I wanted to go and Tony Claytor was willing to get me a ticket for the event and I figured while I was there I would stay at the Niles Hotel because even when I lived in Alturas, CA, before while taking care of my Mom I wanted to check it out. But I never had the time or a chance to do it due to the fact I was taking care of my mom 24/7 who had dementia and we were living in Brooks Park in Alturas, CA. My friend Tony Claytor is presently the assistant manager of the The Niles Theater and performs and is involved in plays at the Modoc Performing Arts Theater in Alturas, CA.Related link: "Up from here" Chapter 11: Tulelake
My Mom and I lived in a 4-Bedroom Double Wide in Brooks Park in Alturas, CA. We both lived there from August 2005- February 2007 until my Mom passed away on February 22, 2007, five days before her 83rd birthday. And I lived there until April 2007 when I moved out and was homeless from April 2007 until July 2007 and then I rented a one-room cottage in Belli Vista, CA.
Then in Redding CA, I found and I lived in a two-bedroom trailer with a roommate in a trailer park and then finally in August 2008 moved back to Tulelake, CA, and lived in a one-bedroom Trailer in Shady Lanes Trailer Park in Tulelake, CA in 2008.
I enjoyed staying in Room 8 Spirit of Africa at the Niles Hotel on my trip to Alturas, CA. It was a very interesting stay. The room was really great even though there was no AC, phone or a TV, it was a pleasure being there while I was working on my stories on my road trip. Where I upload the video above while I was there, but it was not quite finished uploading when I left on the morning of the 14th Annual JUNE JAMBOREE June 30, 2018, at Baker's 10 Acre Railway Gardens. But that was OK I could continue uploading it when I got to Redding CA, and after I checked in at Motel 6 on Hilltop in Redding CA.
The morning of June 30th while I was slowly loading the rental car and waiting for my wake up call from Tony Claytor and his friend Jon Crnkovic who both were involved at the JUNE JAMBOREE playing the roles of the Sherriff and Robber of the Train Robbery taken by Alissa Crnkovic of the Alturas Train Robbery at the JUNE JAMBOREE at the Baker's 10 Acre Railway Gardens in Alturas, CA. And the video I took of the 14th Annual June Jamboree Train Ride June 30, 2018 Alturas, CA.
While I was there I met a couple who also had stayed there too. They flew in with their own personal airplane into the Alturas Airport. They mentioned to me that they have flown to different older hotels like the Niles Hotel in many parts of the North West from Washington State, Oregon, California, Arizona, and Nevada. I just now remembered that I forgot to ask where they lived but oh, well at the time I was going up and down the stairs loading the rental car with my stuff and waiting for Tony Claytor and his friend Jon Crnkovic to show up. As we had to be out there early because Tony Claytor and his friend Jon Crnkovic were as I mentioned above were part of the train robbery. I was talking to them and loading the rental car all at the same time.
Over all I really enjoyed my stay at the Niles Hotel and met Amber when I checked in and another young lady in the Starbucks in the Niles Hotel as I was checking out and using my coupon that was a courtesy for staying at the Niles Hotel. Before I left I had spoken with Jamie a few times trying to get my reservations correct before I made the trip and I did not get a chance to meet her in person while I was there during my stay.
Another thing I found fantastic and interesting, along with the Free WiFi was the guest book in the room that people signed their names and made comment's about their stay at the Niles Hotel. Which, the ones I found the time to read were very interesting, to say the least, and where they were from. It was a great time and I would do it again the next time I find a need to visit Alturas, CA.
