Russian intelligence members indicted in U.S. for alleged election meddling
12 Russian intelligence officers have been indicted by a U.S. grand jury for hacking offences related to the 2016 presidential election, the U.S. Justice Department has announced. The indictment, part of Robert Mueller's special counsel probe, alleges intelligence officers hacked into the computer networks of the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee, among other offences.
Klamath Falls, OR— First starting with Devin Nunes who has protected witnesses who might have committed perjury.
Devin Nunes is refusing to comply with requests to release transcripts that appear to confirm that key witnesses lied during congressional testimony.
Devin Nunes, chairman of the House intelligence committee, is best known for staging stunts to shield Trump from scrutiny in the ongoing Russia investigation. But now, Nunes is extending the cover-up to include key witnesses who may have perjured themselves while testifying before the committee.
But two weeks after Schiff wrote the letter to Nunes requesting that he release the transcripts, Nunes has failed to even respond to the request, NBC News reported on Thursday.
While Schiff didn’t say which witnesses Mueller wants to scrutinize more closely, he told NBC News that “the testimony of Don Jr., Erik Prince, Roger Stone and others is inconsistent with the public reports of meetings, conversations and other facts that have now been established.”
Indeed, recent reports suggest that Don Jr. may have lied to Congress repeatedly when discussing the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting with a Russian lawyer promising “dirt” on Hillary Clinton. Among other things, Don Jr. failed to disclose his father’s involvement in crafting a misleading statement meant to deceive the public about the true purpose of the meeting.
Another recent report calls into question the testimony of Trump ally and Blackwater founder Erik Prince, who told Congress in November 2017 that he had no formal communication or contact with the Trump campaign.
The GOP-led panel also ignored evidence that the NRA may have served as a conduit between the Trump campaign and Russia, and failed to look at evidence showing that a key Trump associate was in contact with an operative working for Russia’s military intelligence agency.
And now, in the face of evidence that appears to confirm that several of the witnesses they did interview lied during their testimony, Nunes and his fellow Trump sycophants are refusing to even look into the matter.
This, of course, raises a simple but crucial question: What are Republicans so afraid of finding that they don’t even want to look?
McConnell Covered Up CIA Reports That Russian Hacks Were Aimed At Electing Trump.
The CIA has concluded in a secret assessment that Russia intervened in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump win the presidency, rather than just to undermine confidence in the U.S. electoral system, according to officials briefed on the matter.
Intelligence agencies have identified individuals with connections to the Russian government who provided WikiLeaks with thousands of hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee and others, including Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, according to U.S. officials. Those officials described the individuals as actors known to the intelligence community and part of a wider Russian operation to boost Trump and hurt Clinton’s chances.
“It is the assessment of the intelligence community that Russia’s goal here was to favor one candidate over the other, to help Trump get elected,” said a senior U.S. official briefed on an intelligence presentation made to U.S. senators. “That’s the consensus view.”
The Obama administration has been debating for months how to respond to the alleged Russian intrusions, with White House officials concerned about escalating tensions with Moscow and being accused of trying to boost Clinton’s campaign.
In September, during a secret briefing for congressional leaders, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) voiced doubts about the veracity of the intelligence, according to officials present.
The CIA shared its latest assessment with key senators in a closed-door briefing on Capitol Hill last week, in which agency officials cited a growing body of intelligence from multiple sources. Agency briefers told the senators it was now “quite clear” that electing Trump was Russia’s goal, according to the officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence matters.
U.S. intelligence agencies have been cautious for months in characterizing Russia’s motivations, reflecting the United States’ long-standing struggle to collect reliable intelligence on President Vladimir Putin and those closest to him.
In previous assessments, the CIA and other intelligence agencies told the White House and congressional leaders that they believed Moscow’s aim was to undermine confidence in the U.S. electoral system. The assessments stopped short of saying the goal was to help elect Trump.
This conclusion was not something they just pulled out of thin air. Intelligence agencies had arrived at their conclusion in September, and briefed a bipartisan group in the Senate and House about it then, along with President Obama. The President wanted to go forward with a full disclosure of the report, but Mitch McConnell quashed it, threatening to taint any disclosure with the claim that it was being made merely for political gain.
Shall we take a moment to allow that to sink in? Mitch McConnell, Senate Majority Leader, sworn to uphold and defend the United States Constitution, chose to threaten the White House with a smear if they disclosed this information to the American people.
What happened to defending against enemies, domestic and foreign, Senator McConnell? Is this treason?
Mike Pence Now Facing Call For Resignation After Paper Trail Suggests Cover-up, “Pence knew & lied”.
Now that former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn was recently back in the news, as Special Counsel Robert Mueller collects White House documents related to his dismissal, a document has been pointed out from November, 2016.
According to a recently uncovered letter sent to then Vice-President Elect Mike Pence by Congressman Elijah Cummings, Pence was well aware of conflicts of interest and potential security risks that came with appointing Flynn to the NSA.
It’s being pointed out that this letter contradicts Pence’s previous assertions that he wasn’t aware of potential issues with Michael Flynn. Scott Dworkin with the Democratic Coalition brought this to our attention and believes Pence should resign:
“President-elect Trump promised during his campaign that he would ‘drain the swamp,’ but his top national security advisor is Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, whose firm is reportedly being paid to lobby the U.S. Government by a close ally of Turkey’s president. It is unclear how Lt. Gen. Flynn was reportedly allowed into intelligence briefings during the campaign despite these apparent conflicts of interest.”
Below is a copy of the letter sent. Here is a link: Cummings Requests Documents Relating to Michael Flynn’s Apparent Conflicts of Interest to Mike Pence on November 18, 2016 by Elijah Cummings:
As He Is Under Criminal Investigation, Trump Is Sucking Up To Putin On Twitter.
Trump took to Twitter to suck up to Putin and tell him that his World Cup was the best ever ahead of their summit meeting.
Trump tweeted: Donald J. Trump@realDonaldTrump
"Congratulations to France, who played extraordinary soccer, on winning the 2018 World Cup. Additionally, congratulations to President Putin and Russia for putting on a truly great World Cup Tournament -- one of the best ever!"
10:03 AM - 15 Jul 2018
This is Trump diplomacy in action. Flatter dictators and authoritarians while hoping that they play nice and give you something that you want. Instead of kissing up to Putin, Trump should have been threatening not to show up at this summit unless the 25 Russians that Mueller indicted for crimes during the 2016 are turned over for prosecution. A president who is under investigation who under investigation for potential crimes against his own country probably shouldn’t be kissing up to the mastermind behind those crimes. These are sort of public statements and tweets that have convinced the majority of the American people that Trump is a Putin puppet. When faced with the choice of standing up to Putin or getting on his knees, Trump drops to the floor and kisses the ring of Putin.
Russians were just indicted for an attack on the United States, and the man who has taken a sworn oath to defend this country is lavishing praise on our attacker. Special Counsel Mueller probably has everything that he needs and more to explain Trump’s role in Russia’s attack on the United States, but in case he needed another example of Trump’s mindset and intent, it was provided to him by the president with his fawning tweet about Putin’s World Cup.
One doesn’t have to do much digging. Trump is showing the world what he is one tweet at a time.
