"There But For The Grace Of God Go I”

Thereby for the Grace of God Go I

KLAMATH FALLS, OR—Homeless Helping Homeless Family and Friends HHH Homeless helping Homeless Or Homeless Helping Homeless HHH.

After getting the first person who recieved help from the HHH program from the $295.00 that was donated by 6 donors. Which the cost for the first homeless person was $121.99, due to other fees for Cash money transfers. That left the HHH account at $173.01 to go towards the next homeless person.

It takes time for the donations to get into the account from the donations sights. The first one of two was Facebook, but Facebook was proving to be to slow in sending the deposits. So I felt I had no other choice but to use one of my credit cards to get the cash and then transfer it by Western Union, so it could be picked up by the person who needed it, to pay for her two days of respite in a motel room. After she recieved the Cash payment, she sent back to me a reciept of the transaction, from her motel room on February 2, 2019. Both fund rasiers were created on January 30, 2019.

It took only three days to get a room for the first homeless person from the donations, with the use of one of my credit cards. I would just wait for more depoists to arrive and go from there. With the first donation deposit arriving on February 5th, of $62.41, the 6th of $19.18, and the 8th, of $163.87, deposited into my account as follows: $245.46 total to date that was recieved for the Homeless Helping Homeless HHH program with the balance for Homeless Helping Homeless HHH now. By the 9th of February $122.00 had been spent to help the first homeless person leaving a balance in the Homeless Helping Homeless HHH account of $123.46 to help the next homeless person. Then, on the 11th of February another donation deposit arrived of $38.66 into the Homeless Helping Homeless HHH account bringing the balance up to $162.12 left for the Homeless Helping Homeless HHH program.

Total donated was $295.00 minus fees from Facebook and GoFundme deposited into the Homeless Helping Homeless HHH account. $295.00- $284.12= $10.88 in fee charges from the donations of $295.00. $284.12-121.99= $162.13 left from all donations recieved to date on February 10th, 2019.

I kept contacting people and asking them if they knew anyone that was homeless that they knew personally and no one at that point knew anyone personally that was homeless and needed the help with two days of respite in a motel room.

By the 13th of February I made contact with a person in Klamath Falls who thought she might know a couple of homeless people that might be interested in getting a motel room for two days off the street. So she began trying to get in touch with them to find out. I mentioned to her that they had to have an id, that was not my requirement but it would the motels requirement. The one she really felt could use the time off the street she could not find or make contact with and the other person that she had in mind did not have an id.

While all this was going on I went ahead and began a search for the cheapest room I could find, on the Internet for Klamath Falls, OR. I mentioned to her, I had found one at the time, what I felt was a good deal and that I had reserved the room and would go and pay for it later on in the evening of the 13th of February. I wanted to pay for it a day ahead of time, to make sure there would be no problem with a person paying for a motel room for homeless person staying in the room.

Maverick Motel is expecting you on February 14

Your payment will be handled by Maverick Motel.

Then after taking a shower and changing cloths, I headed out in the direction of the Maverick Motel by walking on Main Street in that direction to go and pay for the room earily and make sure there would be no problems with giving a homeless person a room that was being paid by Homeless Helping Homeless HHH. Then my plan was to get something to eat at Rodeos Pizza & Saladeria across the street from the Maverick Motel.

While I was walking I recieved a message from the person who was trying to find a homeless person for the room. She informed me that the one she wanted to have the room, she could not find him, and the other person had no id. She felt it was not going to work out for any of the homeless people she knew.

Then, on my way as I got closer to the Maverick Motel I ran into a homeless person and asked him how he was doing and explained what I was trying to do with Homeless Helping Homeless HHH. He mentioned he felt like he was sick and getting Pneumonia. I aksed him if he wanted me to get him a room, then and I would just change the plans and put him in a room then. He said, "No, that was Ok" as he was heading to the warming center at one of the local churches. He mentioned he was hungry so I gave him $5.00 to get something to eat. I then gave him one of my business cards and mentioned for him to call me in the morning, if he was interested in getting the room. And he said "sure, ok" and he went on his way as I headed to the Maverick Motel to try and pay for the room early.

But when I got to the Maverick Motel the desk clerk Dorma, did not like what I was planning to do, and she said as much. To the point, she would only allow me to rent the room if I put up a $200.00 Cash Deposit, along with my credit card, as security for damages.

I told her there was no way I was going to do that, and I would cancel the room reservation instead. I began looking for the number to call on my copy I printed out before I left home. But I was not able to go to my email on Yahoo Mail, as I had not set it up on my new phone yet. Because of the cell phone that was stolen a week and a half ago. While, I was trying to do that, Dorma mention for me not to tell Booking.com the reason she did not want to rent the room to me and the $200.00 to Booking.com

I mentioned to her I would be charged the $45.00 for my cancelation. She did not seem to care, except say they will not do it. However, Dorma had no problem with me lying to Booking.com as to reason I was canceling the room. Dorma wanted me to make up something, rather than the truth about her wanting the $200.00 deposit, and my credit card, before she would rent the room to me, for the homeless person.

I told Dorma, I would cancil the reservation when I got back home. And that I would call her with the cancellation number then to make sure it had been canceled.

I left and went accross the street and had dinner at Rodeos Pizza & Saladeria.

When, I finally got back home, I looked up the email with all the information and canceled the reservation. I called the Maverick Motel and spoke with the desk clerk Dorma and gave her the cancellation number, and then the desk clerk Dorma said she could see it and it was in the system now. I said Ok, thanks and then I hung up.

Your reservation at Maverick Motel is now canceled. You don’t need to do anything else, but if you have questions for the property, feel free to contact them at +1541-883-1836.

After that I felt I am still going to have to put up my credit card, but no cash deposit of $200.00 in the next motel I would find. I wanted someone to recommend the homeless person to me. But I felt I had already made a commitment to do it, I was going to find another motel in Klamath Falls, OR. I will have to just take a chance that the person who ends up in the room will respect that fact and not invite others to have a party or thrash the room. That would sure be one good way to ruin it for others.

And I was thinking when I do find a homeless person for the room. I will have to get a taxi to take us there because I don't have a car. I have to be there to pay for the room and make sure everything is OK.

And I can't do it alone, but I am working hard to help as many as I can, one at a time. People don't realize they are only two or three paychecks from being homeless themselves. There for the Grace of God go I.

But others can help me by spreading the word about what I am trying to do. Even $10.00 at a time from people would help to build up the funds as I am not rich either. In fact, I am retired and work 24/7 on all of my projects. And HHH is a new one I have now added, to things to get done. God has given me many gifts and I am using all of them in what I do.

Like I said, "one at a time getting a homeless person off the street for two days respite. And one is better, than none"

Comment : "There's a lot of them out there, unfortunately."

Yes, there are. Here is a story for you to think about. A friend of mine shared this little story with me, with a big meaning.

"There was an older gentleman walking on the beach picking up starfish and throwing them back into the ocean, along the beach, one by one.

Another man came up to him and asked?

"Why are you throwing just one starfish back into the ocean, one at a time, you will never be able to throw them all back."

And the man said: "Yes, I can do it, one at a time, one by one."

And that is what I am doing, one at a time, one by one with a homeless person.

Makes you think, huh?

Would you like to help me pick up a few starfish and throw them back into the ocean?

Not degrading homeless shelters. That is why I started Homeless Helping Homeless HHH.

To be continued...
