Found a great Valentine deal at Motel 6 Klamath Falls, OR, after canceling the reservation at the Maverick Motel for wanting a $200.00 deposit and my credit card.

Like I said, "one at a time getting a homeless person off the street for two days respite. And one is better, than none"

Comment : "There's a lot of them out there, unfortunately."

Yes, there are. Here is a story for you to think about. A friend of mine shared this little story with me, with a big meaning.

"There was an older gentleman walking on the beach picking up starfish and throwing them back into the ocean, along the beach, one by one.

Another man came up to him and asked?

"Why are you throwing just one starfish back into the ocean, one at a time, you will never be able to throw them all back."

And the man said: "Yes, I can do it, one at a time, one by one."

And that is what I am doing, one at a time, one by one with a homeless person.

Makes you think, huh?

Would you like to help me pick up a few starfish and throw them back into the ocean?

I got up on Februray 14th, 2019 and figured I would head to the Library and see how many homeless people were there and lay low and just observed from a distance and just blend in.

I mean something people think for some reason I am homeless and that is how I fit in with the homeless. But I needed to find a homeless person for the room before 5 PM. Becasue I would have to cancel the reservation if I did not find someone before 6 PM. After waking up and chatting with a friend on messenger for a while.

As I needed to wake up a bit before heading to the library to start and go looking for a homeless person to give the room too. I mentioned to a friend on messenger that I would now be on my cell phone and I could continue chatting on my phone. I then headed to the Klamath County Library.

I made a post on Facebook, "I am in the library to start my seach there first, then if I dont see anyone here I will head to vets park and see who is there."

The first person I met and talked with, I made the offer to him by asking him if he had a chance to stay in a room for a two days by himself to get respite? But he could be the only person in the room. As he could not invite any of his friends and he could not party or thrash the room. I mentioned I was going to go to the restroom and I would be back and he could let me know if he was interested.

He, thought about it for a minute and said he was fine. I said OK. Then, I explained to him what HHH was and gave him a flyer and one of my business cards. I also asked him to not point me out to others and to try and keep what I was doing to himself, while I was in the library. To try and find a person that was in need and not using me for a free two days in a room and not be honest about themselves. I wanted the room to go to a person who was not using me to get off the streets. I did not see anyone else at moment that I wanted to approach, so I left and headed to Vets Park to see if anyone was there.

When I arrirved at Vets Park I walked around the boat docks and saw there was a place I could post a couple of my HHH flyers. Then, headed towards the restrooms, but it was difficult to walk in the snow, as some of it was melting and making it hard to get around the park. I left another flyer in that area and decided I would head back to the library and try my luck there again.

And just before I got to the library door I passed a man who was with his dog on the corner side walk. Then, I turned around and went back asked him if he was homeless and he said, no, he wasn't homeless. Just as I was getting ready to explain to him about HHH, his wife showed up and I shared with both of them what I was trying to do with HHH. I gave them a business card and left and was heading to the door, when I spoted this youngman sitting down leaning back against the wall. He looked like he was meditating. I asked if that was what he was doing? Then after a few minutes of chatting with him I offered him the same offer as the person earlier inside the library.

I wanted to give him time to think about it too, like I did the last person. I told him I had to go the restroom and when I got back he could let me know if he wanted to do it or not. I also explained to him we would have to take a taxi to Motel 6, as I did not have a car. We would both go there, and I would pay for the room and then have the taxi bring me back home.

I left and went to the restroon and while I was in the library I noticed the homeless person from the night before who I offered the room too. And all he had to do was call me. I thought I saw him too on the computer the first time before I headed to Vets Park. The night before he said he did not have a phone. But he could have went on line and sent me an email he would have been interested, but he choose not to email me either.

I went out the other exit door of the libray after leaving the restroom and came around where the sun was shinning and where he was still sitting on the ground. When I got back to him I asked him for his answer? He said he would like to do it and take me up on the offer. I said OK, but I will have to call a taxi first and we both would wait for the taxi to pick us up and head to motel 6 where I could pay for the room and he could stay there for two days of respite.

While we were waiting another homeless person showed up and sat next to the homeless person I was going to give the motel room too. That homeless person mentioned he was a the Thanksgiving Dinner at the Gospel Mission teh say day I went and he remembered me being there too.

He and I started a conversation where he said his sister was a 5th grade teacher in Tulelake and that she moved to Texas now. He did that after I handed him one of my Tulelake News business cards. And then made some other comments that are not worthe repeating. He said oh I remember you at the Gospal Mission on Thanksgiving and began to laugh. I looked down at him where he was sitting on the ground and said, "Look where you are sitting and where I am standing". He stopped smiling and laughing at well and hung his head down. It is pritty bad when you are a homeless person and you are laughing at someone trying to get homeless person off of the streets.

Finally, the taxi arrived and we headed to motel 6 to check in the homeless person. We arrirved at Motel 6 and there were no problems with checking him into his room and even the desk clerk like the idea of what I am trying to do. And in the future that is where I will pay for all the homeless people for HHH.

The homeless person showed his id and he was given his key for the room. And I gave him two dollars all that I had in my pocket at the time and an almost full pack of cigerettees. And and asked if he had any food and he said he did in his backpack. And he thanked all of the people who donated at the time to HHH.

Then I left and headed back home with the taxi driver and had him stop at KFC so I get something for lunch as I think I deserved a good lunch for a change for all the hard work I have been doing for HHH.

After getting home as I wasa real tired I posted on Facebook.

"Done deal. Thanks everyone. A homeless person is off the streets for two days respite. Update Later".

Peace!
