Videos on Homeless Selling a Street Paper

KLAMATH FALLS, OR— Videos about the Contributor and the homeless.

Weekly Street Paper

Do you know someone that is homeless or have you been homeless yourself? Living life on the streets is no pinic as some seem to think. Some people even think all homeless are the same. It is just not true. Sure there are some who choose that life style, but others however do not.

For the last six weeks I have taken it upon myself to try and find a way to help. Searching for ideas all over the Internet and the idea that seems the best is for the homeless to have a street paper. Where they can work for themselves and even write articles or stories in the very same street paper. Some have the opportunity to even have their articles or stories picked up by other street papers across the nation.

As much as I love to write, it is time for me to let others do it now. From hopefully having an Editor to take that responsibility. Where groups of homeless can be taught to write their articles and stories for the local street paper. Where the community will be supportive and do their part by buying the street paper with stories that they will be intested in reading too.

Giving the homeless hope and their dignity by doing something that will help them get back on their feet, and a home of their own once again. Like the rest of us take for granted everyday. And most people do not realize they are only a pay check or two themselves away from being in the same place as the homeless are in now.

The street paper will take some time to catch on, but once it does I feel it will take off like a wild fire. People who buy it will know they are doing their part to help a homeless person have a job. A job helping them get off the streets by working for themselves. To be able to have an income to pay for motel rooms, instead of homeless shelter. A motel roon is the next step to having a home of their own once again.

The homeless buy the paper from the publisher and then sell it on the street to gain an income. And they have the right to do that according to the First Amendment of the United States of America, by law.

There should be no restrictions in the homeless doing this but each city has their own regulations. Right now I have sent many emails asking questions from the city of Klamath Falls and I have not yet to date recieved even one email in return. I guess that means I will have to get on the agenda in order to get answers to my questions now since they don't seem to have time to even answer a simple email request for answers.

In, fact, I may even write an article soon for all to read and see why the city of Klamath Falls, OR has ignored or not answered any of my emails from the city council to the city manager. And the city manager of Klamath Falls has yet to return my phone message.

Now what is wrong with this picture? I am a resident and deserve an answer to my questions in an email or soon on record at a city council meeting after I get on the agenda, their choice.
