Woman spits on 7-Eleven counter after being asked to wear a mask. A woman was recorded spitting on a 7-Eleven counter Monday after the cashier refused to ring up her purchase because she was not wearing a mask. The unidentified woman spit on the counter after yelling at the cashier that she has "a right" to not wear a face mask. "I'm spreading more germs standing here," she is heard saying. The recording shows the woman at a Fort Worth, Texas 7-Eleven saying, "we have a right in America not to wear a (expletive) mask." The cashier can be heard telling the woman, "I'm just telling you to get a mask on."

'Masks are good': Trump says he'd wear mask in small crowd but questions need for mandatory use. Trump said Wednesday he’s not sure that face masks should be mandatory but that he’d wear one in a “tight” crowd. “I’m all for masks,” and, “I think masks are good.” Trump, who has resisted wearing a mask in public, questioned whether they should be mandatory because “you have many places in the country where people stay very long distance.” But he said he’d wear one if he found himself in a crowd where social distancing wasn’t possible. “If I were in a tight situation with people, I would absolutely,” he said.

Several prominent Republicans, including Vice President Mike Pence and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, have publicly urged Americans in recent days to wear a mask in public when they are unable to practice social distancing. “Unfortunately, part of a political debate now is: "If you're for Trump, you don't wear a mask. If you're against Trump, you do." So it comes down to, "To wear a mask or not wear a mask is the question?"

"This isn't about the mask': Costco customer asked to leave after refusing to wear a face covering. If you don't wear a mask while shopping, Costco will ask you to leave. Customers and employees alike would be required to wear face coverings or masks.

The Centers for Disease Control has recommended "wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies) especially in areas of significant community-based transmission." In its recommendation, the agency notes: "We now know from recent studies that a significant portion of individuals with coronavirus lack symptoms ('asymptomatic') and that even those who eventually develop symptoms ('pre-symptomatic') can transmit the virus to others before showing symptoms. This means that the virus can spread between people interacting in close proximity."

Though the CDC's guidelines refer to wearing a cloth face covering as a "voluntary public health measure," Costco has adopted face coverings as mandatory for entrance to the store. In a previous statement, the retailer said: "We know some members may find this inconvenient or objectionable, but under the circumstances we believe the added safety is worth any inconvenience. This is not simply a matter of personal choice; a face covering protects not just the wearer, but others too."

Governor slams state troopers seen refusing to wear masks: 'Absolutely unacceptable' Oregon officials came out swinging at a group of state troopers caught on camera refusing to wear masks at a local coffee shop in Corvallis despite a statewide mandate.

The Oregonian shows what appears to be four state troopers enter a coffee shop, all without face coverings, on July 1. All employees behind the counter can be seen wearing masks.

The store's assistant manager told the local paper he informed the first trooper who arrived that masks were required, but the officer allegedly refused and went on to blast the governor's mask mandate. "It is inexcusable that a few Oregon State Troopers disregarded my face covering requirement yesterday, and ignored a request from a fellow Oregonian to follow the rule," Brown said in a statement Thursday. "Oregon State Police Superintendent Hampton and I agree that their actions and behaviors were absolutely unacceptable."
