Klamath County has Career Politicians on the rise?

By JAMES C. GARLAND

Klamath County— Back in 2020 James Garland ran as The People's Mayor and came in third place with very little if any fanfare. In fact James Garland ran as The People's Mayor where he only received 672 7.83% of the votes cast total of 8580 100.00%. Where Carol F Westfall 4662 54.34% and Bill Adams 3161 36.84% and Carol F Westfall was re-elected for a second term as Mayor of Klamath Falls, Oregon.

After the election was over in 2020 Mr. Garland had his sights on running in 2024 for a County Commissioner Seat with two incumbents up for re-election. With no plans to run in 2022. However, things changed with the stepping down of the County Commissioner seats with Klamath County Commissioner, Donnie Boyd, announcing his resignation from the Board effective on January 10, 2022, citing “personal reasons".

But when the seat came open Mr. Garland decided to file for the open seat being vacated by Commissioner, Donnie Boyd. The first person to file for the seat was the former Chief of Police of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Dave Henslee on December 3, 2021. Then Mr. Garland on December 9, 2021, filed. Things changed once again when Todd J. Gessele, amended his application filed on December 8, 2021, from County Commissioner Position 2 to County Commissioner Position 1 to join Dave Henslee as County Commissioner Position 1.

At that point in time Mr. Garland did not want to continue running for County Commissioner Position 1 with a crowded field of Candidates for County Commissioner Position 1 and made a switch to County Commissioner Position 2, against Kelley Mindy Morris a Career Politician incumbent who is now seeking a third term as Chair County Commissioner Position 2.

The People's Commissioner is called The Peoples Commissioner because The Peoples Commissioner is Out and About with The People. Mr. Garland may lose the election, but it's not like Mr. Garland is not trying to win the election either.

Mr. Garland is not a career politician and has no plans on being one. Like some people once they are elected a few times feel it is then their job to continue with their programs and retire and retire in the seat they have kept for decades.

Instead of giving someone else an opportunity to present their ideas and programs for a bit of fresh air. Instead, the same tried old programs that do not work and repackage them as something new and fresh. Which is not the case.

There will be two choices for County Commissioner Position 2 on the ballot for the Primary Election on May 17, 2022.

1. Kelley Mindy Morris
(and below her name on the ballot will the second choice)

2. James Charles Garland.
