Bronze sculpture celebrating grebes
Unveiled at Putnam's Point a Bronze sculpture celebrating grebes. A nationally honored sculptor Stefan Savides from Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Savides said. “We are very excited to see this grebe monument installed, as it will further place Putnam’s Point on the map as a national destination.”
City Parks Manager John Bellon and his staff did some major landscaping. Along with Scott Souders, the City’s Development Services Director with their structural and engineering support.
“It’s such a great viewing area. It’s probably the best place in the West for viewing grebes,” Darrel Samuels, president of the Klamath Basin Audubon Society, said of Putnam Point.
“People come from all over the country,” echoed Bob Kingzett, member of the Stefan Savides Sculptures Committee.
The sculpture is envisioned as the first in a series of Savides pieces in Klamath Falls, with most future projects planned in the downtown area. Savides already has some sculptures in and near Klamath Falls.
"Our goal is to have a public piece of his art produced for Klamath annually.” Kingzell said.
