Commissioner Henslee - I'd like to address the outburst today at public comment. I'm very proud of the fact that I am a public servant, a public guardian and a protector of all people. I'm very proud that is who I am. I will not ever sit idly by and watch people threaten people around me or engage in any acts of violence around me. I will stop that no matter what.
Isn’t it time for a recall of all current commissioners? Don’t the citizens of Klamath Falls deserve leaders who care about the law and respect the warnings and cautions of the people, instead of disregarding and attacking individual citizens and businesses in this county?
The commissioners canceled the next 2/3 county commissioner meetings, if you count the week of July 4th, without giving cause, yet expect tax payers to pay them.
Henslee has demonstrated he is incapable of building community and has repeatedly put his version of law and order ahead of love and care for citizens in Klamath Falls, Oregon and disregarded the actual law/the Oregon Constitution. Henslee’s previous alleged disregard for the law and prejudices have now been proven, and are no longer simply alleged. He makes up threats and disregarded election laws that clearly applied to him, and he admitted it to Reta Vining, who challenged him after publishing a jibberish statement in the Herald and News.
His accomplices, the other sitting commissioners, have also disregarded the protections Article 2 section 11 offers citizens of Oregon by allowing and endorsing Henslee, when they were warned by citizens repeatedly, that Henslee had been denied qualified immunity and may have personal liabilities which disqualify him from holding office. In doing so, the sitting commissioners, also failed to protect and love the citizens of Klamath County, nor did they discount the actions of Henslee when ather than ask a speaker at a county meeting to be removed by the meeting’s Sargent of Arms, he attacked a citizen Ricard physically as he was returning to his seat! This is the stuff of legendary congressional scuffles.
Neither DeGroot nor Kelly denounced Henslee’s physical attack of a citizen, instead they let him make a statement where Henslee “heard a threat”, which no one else in the room heard and the audio/video of the meeting didn’t capture.
This is important, as this behavior of attributing a threat where there isn’t actually one, is a central theme/pattern in the pending $11.75m federal 14th amendment case against the City of Klamath Falls and former police Chief Henslee.
And to top it off, the sitting commissioners asked the county board to have an attorney to mail citizen Ricard, not an apology or invitation to care for him, but a threatening letter by certified mail, which cited no law or rule, but announced a ban on the citizen Ricard from attending county meetings for a year, which infringes on his free speech and the constitutional rights of the attacked and injured citizen. How is it that Henslee was not booked for assault after his attack was captured on county video/audio and witnessed by all present and after citizen Ricard gave his statement to the County Sheriff Kaber, who had to intervene to pull Henslee off of Ricard. Ricard’s statement clearly stated he was going to press charges.
The commissioners then canceled the next 2/3 county commissioner meetings, if you count the week of July 4th, without giving cause, yet expect tax payers to pay them.
