Trump Crime Lord
Georgia Republican State Sen. Colton Moore claiming the state's voters will be "fighting it in the streets" if former President Donald Trump is prosecuted on the charges he currently faces.
"We need to be taking action right now because if we don’t, our constituencies are gonna be fighting it in the streets," Moore said in an appearance on former Trump White House chief strategist Steve Bannon's podcast. "Do you want a civil war? I don’t want a civil war. I don’t want to have to draw my rifle. I want to make this problem go away with my legislative means of doing so."
The state senator suggested that Republican lawmakers in Congress should also move to defund Willis' office.
The former president was charged alongside 18 co-defendants in a sweeping case related to their efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia. Willis has asked for the case to be tried in October.
Trump tells Glenn Beck he’d ‘lock up’ political opponents if reelected.
Former President Trump told conservative media personality Glenn Beck he would prosecute his political enemies if elected president again.
Trump, who dismissed the various charges he faces in Georgia, New York, Florida and Washington, D.C., said there is “no choice.”
“Well, I’ll give you an example… The answer is you have no choice, because they’re doing it to us,” Trump said, adding that he “never hit Biden as hard as I could have.”
“I always had such great respect for the office of the president and the presidency … And then I heard he was trying to indict me, and it was him that was doing it,” he said.
The former president, also the current front-runner for the GOP nomination for president in 2024, has been indicted four times this year in connection with his personal business dealings, handling of classified documents and efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.
He has argued the criminal indictments he faces are political in nature and designed to keep him from winning another term in the White House.
“Coming From a Crime Lord Like Trump, That’s Rich”: Trump Hits Out at Journalist and Claims He’s Only Been Indicted Because of “Radical Left Thugs”
Former President Donald Trump has lashed out at The Wall Street Journal, attributing the regularity of his indictments to what he described as “radical left thugs.”
On social media, Trump wrote: “Could somebody please explain to Dan Henninger of The Wall Street Journal that the Democrats want anybody but Donald Trump to run against crooked Joe Biden or whoever they choose to run. This is why these radical left thugs indict me every 15 minutes.”
The twice-impeached former president continued his verbal assault by suggesting that his opponents should focus on making his path to presidency smoother. He wrote “If they wanted to run against me, they would make my journey a joyous [and] beautiful one. Besides, I’m beating Biden badly in the polls.”
Ankush Khardori, a former federal prosecutor, cited a poll where a majority of respondents believed the trial should occur before the upcoming general election. Khardori emphasized that even a significant portion of independent voters – 63% – believed Trump should face trial before the election.
Even legal scholars with conservative leanings have pointed out that, based on the 14th Amendment, Trump should be barred from running for president again. Wu, writing for The Daily Beast, pointed out that section 3 of the amendment in question “fits Donald J. Trump like a glove.”
Wu discussed potential ways to keep Trump off the ballot. He wrote: “For starters, secretaries of state could simply decide he cannot be on the ballot. Secondly, citizens and states could challenge his presence on the ballot through the courts.”
A Statement From the Former President
Trump’s spokesperson released a statement. It read: “Joe Biden and the Democrats are scared to death because they see the polls showing President Trump winning in the general election. The lawyers who are pushing this political attack on President Trump are stretching the law beyond recognition. There is no legal basis for this effort except in the minds of those who are pushing it.”
A Criminal Mini-Mind
Given his legal situation, it’s seemingly impossible to avoid conversations about Trump on the internet and the debates seem to be eternal. Responding to the former president’s latest social media rant, one person wrote: “It took a minimum of two years to get the indictment rolling and he committed the crimes right out in the open, on tape, on video, while announcing he was going to commit crimes. Ain’t nothing easy. Wait, scratch that. One thing is easy. It is easy for right-wingers to completely ignore all evidence that their demigod is a criminal mini-mind.”
Crime Lord Trump
Trump’s attack on The Wall Street Journal was discussed far and wide. Reacting to his use of the term “radical left thugs,” one individual said: “Coming from a crime lord like Trump, that’s rich. He should know what a thug is since he has used many of them during his life.”
A Seditious, Demagogue, Carnival Barker
Others discussed the potential dangers the former president’s behavior could pose if he isn’t de-platformed. “They need to get the seditious, demagogue, carnival barker in prison before he riles up his half-wits into a civil war. He is deserving of prison and many other Republicans in government are as well,” one person said.
Trump vs. Hitler
Others drew comparisons to Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler. “Trump sounds more and more like Hitler every day. He is changing his followers’ beliefs and transforming them into [people who want him to] be a dictator. Who has Trump ever admired, loved, and envied? Dictators – that is who. It doesn’t take a psychologist to see that is what Trump wants to be.”
