Amtrak late on arrival to Portland, Oregon

Amtrak late on arrival to Portland, Oregon

The day had arrived for my trip to Portland from Klamath Falls, OR, roundtrip to the event Climate Solutions 25th Anniversary Reception on Friday, September 15, 5pm-7pm.

Friday, September 15, 5pm-7pm at SERA Architects (600 SW 10th Avenue, Suite 500, Portland, in the Galleria Building.

Access Taxi was scheduled to pick me up first thing this morning around 7 AM in order to get to the Amtrak Station in Klamath Falls, Oregon on time in order to not miss the train or just cancel all together. Still had not made up my mind what to do yet. I still had plenty of time to do it in.

However, the later it got to be the more concerned I was about not making the event in Portland on time or even at all. Most of the time Amtrak does not run late, but it happens and as a passenger it is out of my control to do anything about it but wait.

I was in stress mode now trying to figure out if, if I should cancel the trip outright or continue on with hope that maybe Amtrak could catch up on their schedule. Limbo time.

I had a choice to make soon as the original departure time was getting closer by the minute. What to do kept crossing my mind to the point it was like there was no way the train would arrive in Porland, OR in time for me to attend the event I had planned to attend so I could write an article about it. Time was running out.

I decided I needed a break and would just go anyway. I am sure I could find something else to write about in Portland and the trip would not be a total loss. In fact, it would be fun and a chance to get a change of scenery from Klamath Falls, OR.

As it got closer and closer to the actual arrival and departure time of the Amtrak train. it was now time to pack it up and have Access Taxi pick me up and leave for the train station.

Here we go again I had set a time for a pickup from Access Taxi, and it had to be changed several times too. After stressing again about the taxi picking me up on time as I did not want to miss my train to Portland.

Finally, the Access Taxi driver picked me up and rushed me to the Amtrak Station. And from my balcony in downtown Klamath Falls I can see the trains come and go every day. I live on 5th and High Streets in the Grandview Apts. And from my apt at 321 N 5th Street, Apt 15 on the second floor. I have a great view of downtown Klamath Falls, OR.

Well, I finally with the taxi arrived at the Amtrak train station with my three bags in tow. One Checked in bag and two Carry On’s for the trip from Klamath Falls on Friday Sept 15th to Portland and back again to Klamath Falls, OR on Sunday Sept 17th.

With the train running so late and not looking like I was going to make it on time to the event. I changed my travel plans on Amtrak from returning on Saturday the 16th of Sept to the 17th of Sept instead in the early morning hours on the phone with Amtrak. I would change the motels plans from one day to a two day stay over at Motel 6, downtown Portland, OR, when I got to the motel after my arrival at Union Station downtown Portland, OR.

I checked in my one checked in bag, and I now found out that I can have two checked in bags for free. Oh, well. Next time I take a trip I will keep it in mind. But for now, it is what it is.

To be continued.
