An Elderly man trying to move from one motel to another in Downtown Portland

After having dinner and heading back to my motel room on the first night there, Friday the 15th of September decided to take a walk around downtown to get a better idea what downtown Portland was like as well as what it looked like with all the history in the downtown area too.

But I did it in the wee hours of the morning where I came across a few less fortunate people lying on the sidewalks or sleeping the best they could under the circumstances and always on alert for both of us. Them and me.

Even was invited to come back at 6:30 AM for a free breakfast at the downtown shelter. Met another gentleman in the wee hours who mentioned to me he was the owner of one of the restaurants in downtown Portland a few blocks away from where we were sitting a table.

There were even gun shots going off downtown Portland with people running in the opposite direction of the gun fire during those early morning hours.

It was interesting sitting at one of the tables of a business that was closed at this time of the morning. He was smoking a cigar, and I was smoking a regular cigarette and a cheap smoke at that for me on my budget.

This man invited me to eat at his restaurant and gave me directions how to get there before I left town or the next time, I was in Portland downtown.

Well by the time I returned to my motel room after my long, long walk around downtown Portland. It was a quarter to 3 AM when I finally got back to the motel room in downtown Portland at the Motel 6 where there were no nightstands, no trash can in the bathroom. Electrical outlets that were just hanging there with loose wires from the wall by the bed where a light would be.

Got some sleep and woke up and wanted to eat out for breakfast at Denny’s Restaurant and to fix the receipt from last night’s receipts, something didn’t seem right on the charges on the Travel card I was using because someone made a charge on my bank card so that card had to be canceled and a new one issued but had to transfer money from my bank account to the travel card otherwise I would have no way to pay for things while I was in downtown Portland.

The travel card was a bit getting used to the charges that came through on it, the charges were more than what it was saying on the receipts, but eventually the charges would self-correct to match the receipts.

On my way to Denny’s, I stopped to rest in this seat area where a was a picture on the sidewalk there. (See Picture posted)

All of sudden I heard this older man yelling and screaming I need your help, and it was directed at me for someone reason. He was carrying a heavy load of 3 suitcases that he was dragging down the street for some reason or the other. And it seems I was going to find out shortly. No doubt.
