The end of a great time in Portland, Oregon

The end of a great time in Portland, Oregon

All abord going south. Have your tickets ready before boarding.

This is it, the final departure for Klamath Falls, Oregon on Amtrak. Settling in now and getting acquainted with the seat mate across the aisle.

She introduced herself as Donna and that she was retired from Amtrak and that she had free rides on Amtrak anytime she wanted too. Donna also mentioned that she now works at Knotts Berry Farm in Southern California.

We hit it off quite well and were having such a great time we had a couple of Karens complain several times to where the young female Conductor had come to me several times to ask me to quiet down. And one of the last times she said they would have to contact law enforcement and have me removed from the train.

As we traveled further down the tracks it was discovered that this Conductor and her father was the Engineer. Where both of their rest breaks were in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The other female Conductor servicing the rear lower section that Donna and I occupied was the Conductor who took my order on my first ever $45.00 dinner and in my entire lifetime I have never paid $45.00 for a dinner, however, believe me it was well worth it.

And Donna kept telling me you better eat it before it gets cold. And I just kept having a great time chatting with Donna my new on- board friend I didn’t really care as I was having such a great time, I didn’t care.

And I figured I could always take it with me when I got to Klamath Falls and my departure there. And Donna would continue on to Southern California where I was born.

Before you knew it time was flying so fast it was getting time for me to pack up my seat area and get ready to depart in Klamath Falls, Oregon with promises for Donna to contact me as soon as she arrived back in the LA area.

And to date I have yet to hear back from Donna, but life goes on or it just wasn’t meant to be for Donna and I to meet up again, less well email, text or phone each other.

Just like in life people make promises they very rarely if ever keep. And this seems this is yet another one of them.

Finally, home and as I struggled once again with my luggage and almost missing getting my checked baggage. Called Access Taxi and they were promptly there to pick me up.
