Rep. Reschke would rather see addicts in prison
Oregon Republican Lawmakers were asked : Do They Acknowledge Biden Won?
We also asked what they’re telling their constituents to do on Inauguration Day, when right-wing protests are planned in 50 state capitals and Washington, D.C.
January 13, 2021, did not respond:
Sen. Dennis Linthicum (R-Klamath Falls)
Sen. Kim Thatcher (R-Keizer)
Former Sen. Alan Olsen (R-Canby)
Former Rep. Greg Barreto (R-Cove)
Rep. Mike Nearman (R-Independence)
Rep. E. Werner Reschke (R-Klamath Falls)
Rep. Bobby Levy (R-Echo)
State Rep. Reschke urges Gov. Kotek to call special session to repeal Measure 110 did two things: it took state funding dedicated to schools, police, cities, and counties and shifted it to the Oregon Health Authority to set up addiction recovery services. At the same time, the measure decriminalized all street drugs. During the 2023 Legislative session, several bills were introduced by Republican legislators to wind back the harmful effects Measure 110. All were rejected by the majority of Democrat legislators.
However, I firmly reject the idea that we must embrace decriminalization to deliver effective addiction recovery services. We’ve already seen that model play out, and the consequences have been deadly.”
Remember this saying, “Government can never do with less, but they think you can.”
Don’t be fooled by the signs saying “Yes, Museums” around the county. Your heart strings are being played. We all like museums, but doubling the tax now is the wrong path forward.
Vote no and send a powerful message that if the county can’t afford to fund museums, neither can you (and at double the rate). All a no vote does is require the county to reconsider how to fund museums. On the May 2024 ballot, the county can place another measure for museums at the current rate of 5¢/$1,000 and everything will remain the same.
E. Werner Reschke is serving his fourth term as State Representative for parts of Klamath and Deschutes counties.
To date Measure 18-131 is Yes, 6994 and No 6915 votes.
