The big question on some people’s minds are how many homeless vets could have been provided housing, food and clothing for the Covid funds spent on tourism? Patriotism does not house, feed or cloth the homeless vets.

In essence, patriotism is about positive feelings towards one’s country and a willingness to serve and improve it, while nationalism can be seen as a more exclusionary belief that one’s country is superior and should dominate others.

The distinction is important because while patriotism can foster unity and a sense of community, nationalism can sometimes lead to division and conflict.
