Tulelake, CA— At tonight's city council meeting an agreement was reached regarding past due payments with the city of Tulelake. The residents are to stay current on their present water and trash bills, plus continue to pay 10% on their past over due billings for those residents in the 5 to 7 month period. Where the bills were not sent out by the city and the residents on their own did not attempt to pay them, until they received a bill from the city.
All parties have now agreed to work out their difference for the residents with the past billing concerns. The city council passed the agreement made with those in attendance at tonight's city council meeting and no further action will be required.
Mr. James Garland of Tulelake New Times (TNT) concerns will be addressed at the next city council meeting when the City Administrative Clerk will have more information on two bids for a new phone system. Along with the estimated cost of changing the old one, to a new phone answering system.
Tony Ross will have more information on the phone system at the next regular city council meeting because the city's and police department phone system are interconnected with each other. The city council tabled the request until the next regular meeting of the Tulelake city council. Agenda items 8 and 9 no action was taken at this time.
Chief Tony Ross was given permission to attend the California Police Chief’s Conference in Monterey. The city will be covering the cost of $600.00 for the trip for the Chief of Police. The city passed Tony Ross's request.
Agenda items 11-13 were scratch until they receive more information on the items. The Director of Public Works will bring it up at the next regular meeting with the update of Wastewater project and it's progress to date.
And finally Scott Jones was chosen as the number one candidate and has been approved to be hired as the next Tulelake Police officer. After a background check has been completed. Which, could take from 30 to 60 days to complete.
