"Know me as a person NOT by my mental illness" (Part One)

Almost two months to the day I started the TNT Blogs, again.

There presently now are 101 posts on (TNT) Tulelake New Times Blog.

Present page views all time history is 5,939 for (TNT) Tulelake New Times Blog on this day the 6th day of February, 2014.

It was on December 11, 2013 I posted the first news story for TNT. Sure there were a few posts that were posted before that on the blog. But the blog sat dormant since January 7, 2011 when I first got the link for the blog.

The first story and very first post was on Friday, January 7, 2011 “Tulelake Still in the Red”

Next post was on Saturday, January 8, 2011

Can the City Council Appoint Deputy Clerks?

Then on Friday, January 14, 2011 “Tulelake Honkers vs. Surprise Valley Hornets”

TNT has had it’s up and downs since the very first story was written and it began as the very first flyer posted all over town.

It was called “UFO in Tulelake”.

It was a joke I put together after Joe mentioned he saw a UFO fly over city hall. And the rest is history as I took City Clerk, Joe Cordonier's comment literally and ran with it. It was fun going around town and asking people to point out the UFO from the flyer I had printed with that purpose in mind. Some would get it right and others would be way off. But it was fun and for me a fun thing to do at the time.

We finally narrowed it down to the helicopter from Pacific Power. I even made phone calls confirming it with Pacific Power that they were the UFO that flew over city hall that day. They were checking the utility lines from above.

Well that story gave me an idea and that was to start a local news paper for Tulelake and Newell. It was called, The Tulelake Newell Times” (TNT). But as time went on I was unable to get to Newell to cover stories there as and most people comment and say, "nothing much happens in Newell anyway".

I dropped the Newell in the name of TNT and it became “The Tulelake New Times” that way I could still keep the three letter name of “TNT”.

There have been people in the community that have been against what I have been trying to do then, since the beginning of TNT. And today it is those same people who once again are against what I am tying to do and accomplish with TNT. They are saying the same or similar things about me as they did then and now in the present time.

I love this one, it is one of my favorites. They refer to me as being "nuts" or a "nut case" or "off my rocker". The truth is I am bi-polar manic/depressive and was first diagnosed in 1993 as having what is refereed to as a mental illness. People should first educate themselves on the subject of mental illness, before they keep making the same ignorant comments over and over again, like a broken record and then they end up looking foolish.

There is a saying on the wall in the Senior Lunch Room at the Honker and I just love what it says. It says, “Know me as a person, not for my mental illness”.
