Klamath Falls, OR— Setting history straight on the Japanese Interment camp (Part Two)
Opened in May 1942, Tule Lake was the largest of 10 camps run by the War Relocation Authority following President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s issuance of Executive Order 9066, which authorized the U.S. military to incarcerate U.S. residents of Japanese descent.
Tule Lake held up to 18,700 Japanese Americans and was designated the nation's only segregation center in 1943. Many Japanese Americans were considered disloyal after failing to answer "yes" to what have since been regarded poorly worded questions about their loyalty to Japan and their willingness to serve in the U.S. military. Along with "no-nos," others chose not to move their families to other detention centers were held at Tule Lake, which had 28 guard towers along with tanks and machine-gun emplacements.
“Tule Lake’s atmosphere of anxiety, anger, confusion, and distrust helped set the stage for the largest mass renunciation of American citizenship in U.S. history,” the management plan states. Because of the controversy, 5,461 Tule Lake detainees protested and renounced their U.S. citizenship. A subsequent legal battle ensued through the 1960s.
*Agenda and Minutes of Special Meeting April 5, Regular Meetings May 1, May 15, June 19, July 3, 2018 of Tulelake City Council meetings below*
*From April 5 2018 to July 3, 2018 the "Tule Lake Committee" had more than ample time to check the agendas listed above to further inquire about making an offer to buy the Tulelake Municipal Airport.*
Which, they did not.
Comes now the Tule Lake Committee filing Case No. 2:18-cv-02280-KJM-CMK "FIRST AMENDED VERIFIED COMPLAINT FOR TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDER AND INJUNCTIVE RELIEF (42 U.S.C. § 1983, RALPH M. BROWN ACT)" The Tule Lake Committee was alarmed to learn on July 12, 2018 that the City of Tulelake had proposed Ordinance No. 2018-16-01 on July 3, 2018, to authorize the sale of the Tulelake airport land to the Modoc Tribe of Oklahoma for the low figure of $17,500.
All the Agendas and Minutes are on line at Agendas & Minutes on the City of Tulelake's website where the above Agendas & Minutes were downloaded and scanned for this article. The Agendas from April 5, 2018 to July 3, 2018 have been there for Tule Lake Committee to read and be informed of the Agenda items long before their court filing Filed on 08/22/18.
So there is no excuse for the "Tule Lake Committee" to have been alarmed about meetings they were too lazy to find out about and want to use it as an excuse now as claimed in "Tule Lake Committee" filing Case No. 2:18-cv-02280-KJM-CMK "FIRST AMENDED VERIFIED COMPLAINT FOR TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDER AND INJUNCTIVE RELIEF (42 U.S.C. § 1983, RALPH M. BROWN ACT)" Case 2:18-cv-02280-KJM-CMK Document 5 Filed 08/22/18 as stated below in paragraph 28., by the "Tule Lake Committee" under penalty of perjury.
