It has been almost two months and each day that passes gets worse by the day with the insanity coming out of the White House.

“The government you elect is the government you deserve.” –Thomas Jefferson

Thomas says choosing a government with a collective will and the judgment of people comes with a responsibility. The consequences of choice fall on the people, even if the elected government is incompetent or corrupt.

Americans are negative on Trump’s handling of economy. Trump’s overall job approval rating currently stands at 45%, with 54% disapproving, in line with the numbers he saw in March 2017 and matching his highest ratings for his first term in office.

"The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive... It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere." –Thomas Jefferson

He articulates a sentiment that speaks to the foundational principles of democracy and the role of citizens in holding their government accountable.

Essentially, Jefferson is emphasizing the importance of citizens being willing to stand up against unjust or oppressive actions by the government in order to ensure that freedom and democracy are preserved. This spirit of resistance serves as a check on governmental power, preventing abuse and safeguarding individual rights.

The spirit of resistance to always be kept alive can be seen as advocating for a delicate balance between the need for order and stability within society and the necessity of challenging authority when it oversteps its bounds. The idea that a healthy society requires both adherence to laws and institutions as well as the willingness to push back against them when they no longer serve the common good.

In a society where blind obedience to authority reigns supreme, there is a risk of tyranny and the erosion of fundamental freedoms. On the other hand, in a state of complete anarchy where there are no rules or governance, chaos and instability prevail. By embracing this spirit of resistance within the bounds of reason and responsibility, individuals can contribute to the preservation of democracy and the maintenance of a just and equitable society where the rights and freedoms of all are protected.

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the president… is morally treasonable to the American public.” Theodore Roosevelt

“Criticism is necessary and useful; it is often indispensable; but it can never take the place of action, or be even a poor substitute for it.” Theodore Roosevelt
