TNT Tours Klamath Falls, Oregon

KLAMATH FALLS, OR—

Worked at Universal Studios and never saw anyone be treated the way I was treated @ OIT yesterday and the day before...

Shameful!

KTEC 89.5 FM – Our Radio, Our Way Part Two

Hi James,

I apologize for the late reply, we received your voicemails as well. I would ask that you please note that we are located on the campus of Oregon Institute of Technology and are completely staffed and run by students, so our staff schedules sometimes limit availability.

We received your DJ application and appreciate your interest but I am a bit confused on what you are interested in. We are a volunteer-only nonprofit station and from the application and previous emails it sounds like you are looking to promote a news organization or a company that you own. It's not clear what entity you represent. Are you interested in volunteering to DJ a show? I see that you also expressed interest in tours, and referenced a team of people. That being said, KTEC may not be able to facilitate your requests. You've provided us with a lot of information that is conflicting.

Could you please give me some more clarification on what you're interested in? I'm not sure if KTEC is the proper outlet for your program.

Thanks,

Thanks for your reply and I will clear things up the best I can so you can have a better picture and idea and my plans for the future for TNT.

First of all I started Tulelake News just a little over 10 years ago on Feb 11, 2010 to cover the local non-profit events and cover local city council meetings and stories in Tulelake California. By both in print and on line where all the issues were Free and have been since the beginning as I make no money at what I have been doing for over 10 years now all by myself to this point in time. I am retired and live on a limited income.

The blog that was started in 2011 but since 2014 presently has over All Time {185,253} Views World Wide at this moment on {Friday March 20, 2020}.

I am a visionary and I am full aware and exactly where you are located, but I was unaware of your program until I was covering a local event last Sat. Which is posted in the emails. During my presentation, an audience member ask I needed a job in radio and my response was I don't need a job in radio, been, there done that and I am retired.

She said, No! It is an all volunteer run radio station on the campus of OIT. And she gave me the link so I could look it up on my cell phone. And I did just that and followed up through with the application with my request for the open slots. The ones that would fit into my schedule with the rest of what I do for TNT, a news site that has no ads or any kind of income, other that what I put into it out of my pocket. Everything TNT does is done has been done for FREE for over a decade now. From covering local non-profit events and local news stories of interest and a weekend one page news issue on a weekly basis. Which is all done by me as I am not lucky enough to even have one volunteer less well a paid staff.

Presently, I have a young man who has become my apprentice and today he got a status level upgrade to being my assistant now. Where he is also not paid for his services, it is all volunteer too, with his time and effort in this endeavor helping me the owner of TNT since 2010. He has an interest in learning radio and I felt this would be a great way for him to do it as my assistant now with TNT. When I referred to TEAM it was he and I as a TEAM now.

The Tours being planned are for a possible grant that TNT will be applying for with Klamath County and the Chamber of Commerce as soon as it becomes available to apply for the local tourist grants when they are posted and announced. In the mean time TNT is in the planning stages of writing a proposal for those grants and Chamber of Commerce Chair person is full aware of what my goals and plans are in that area of bringing in more tourist into the Klamath Basin.

TNT is not a profit business but geared toward the non-profit status. TNT having an radio presence can now help to promote the local tourism, local politics and local news stories of interest that TNT is known for doing. As an example of covering local news stories like the one when the US Senator was on the OIT campus where I met the President of OIT as he was headed home and I was done doing my story on video for TNT.

TNT, has a lot of past job experiences from education, manufacturing, food service, and retail, and media communications. Along with my Education with a BA in Human Resource Management from Simpson University in Redding, CA class of 93. I also have had the experience of working at Universal Studios next to screen test theatre and on the lower lot in the Merchandise Department back in 1988. Along with three radio stations in Redding Ca from 1988-93.

TNT is me, and I am the owner and I do everything my self, including being the webmaster, editor of videos, videos on location and write the articles and stories for my blog that I transfer to the website by way of html code. Along with 8 Facebook pages and once again I do all it by myself with no paid staff, try it some time. I do a great deal for one person and I feel the radio slot would not only be a great opportunity for TNT to grow even for covering the local community and the non-profits by doing live remotes that can help them in that area as well.

And with the training of my volunteer assistant to learn how to run the board for the format of a Morning drive radio program for your community, community which TNT is also a part of the community as I live here as well as the owner of TNT since its beginning.

So I feel TNT would an asset to the college radio at KTEC 89.5 with having someone around who has been there and done it, that could easily if offered teach classes in communications if the right offer were to pass my desk but in the mean time my assistant has started to read the Dj Handbook, which I am reading it as well to refresh my memory from the past, after all that was 31 years ago for me. And my team member is only 21 and just beginning his adventure in life.

In the mean time I am moving forward working on the music list and liners so that when you schedule the training time my assistant will be ready to move forward in that area of leaning how to run an audio board for a community radio station.

If there are any further questions you would like me to answer please feel free to do so. In the meantime WE are waiting for the information as to when, what time he can begin his training. And mine at a later date after he has completed his board training as it would be best if he did it on his own without me being there with him until he is ready to go on the air life with me an old pro, who has been there before and only needs a bit of refreshing my memory as the plan is for my assistant to run the board and for me to be there in is a problem that he may not be able to do on his own for the kind of format I am planning on the live morning drive but in the future when I am out on location for a non profit event. Where depending on the part of the program where he and I will switch seats at different times depending on where we are at during the morning drive program that is being formatted by me as new area for me too. As I have never done the job of being a PD, so he and I will both be learning new areas that neither one of us has ever done before with the opportunity for both of us as a team. So there it is. Me (TNT) and my volunteer non paid assistant.

Have a great evening or morning when you read this reply email back to you,

Any further questions be sure and reply or call or set up a time where we can meet face to face and go from there for TNT (Me) and my assistant and his training on the board at KTEC 89.5 FM

Best regards,

James Garland Owner and operator of TNT.
