Dave Henslee Qualifacations TNT May 24, 2022
County Officers ORS 204.005 Election or appointment of county officers
Commissioner DeGroot said, a quick comment as to the public comment given today. I think there is potentially a misunderstanding from some as to what the Statutes say and to what liabilities people have. It would be nationwide effecting if someone being involved in a lawsuit couldn't take office. It has been looked at, it has been reviewed and it is absolutely bunk. How we get to a position where those types of tactics are used in campaign infuriates me.
Derrick Degroot- "We didn't bring this garbage into our county. It is all over the country we don't need it here. It doesn't belong here. It's not who we are. It is a waste of this community's time and resources."
Commissioner Morris said, I hear your frustration. I meet it with optimism and hope. It is a beautiful day out. Today can signify a beautiful new chapter for us and I'm excited for a new chapter. This Board felt strongly that it is up the voters to decide who gets to sit in these chairs. These chairs are a very honorable place to sit, and that honor is of the public to choose who sits here. I feel very comfortable with the public's choice. It's time to just keep getting work done on this beautiful day.
Kelley Minty Morris-"State and county has challenges and I think we're equipped to take on those challenges and move forward".
Allen Headley - Read a statement regarding elected official eligibility.
Don Ricard - Spoke about lawsuit.
Reta Vining - Asks funding of digital ballot image requests.
"David Henslee may not be a candidate for an elected office because of pending Federal lawsuit. Placing David Henslee into the pro tempore position of Commissioner is a direct violation of the OREGON STATE CONSTITUTION page 12 Section 11 for any candidate running for elected office of the County of Klamath in the State of Oregon." Candidate for Commissioner Allen B. Headley.
