Measure 18-132

Shall District maintain dispatch service levels with increased 5-year levy of $.19 per $1,000 assessed valuation beginning FY 2024-2025? This measure may cause property taxes to increase more than three percent.

Measures/ Receipt of Ballot Titles Continued

The Klamath 911 Emergency Communications District will continue to use the tax revenue from this measure to maintain funding for critical positions, addressing the needs of our citizens, and public safety partners, maintaining necessary equipment, and implementing advanced technologies proactively.

In recent years Klamath 911 has undertaken a broad modernization effort that will improve our communications with the public as well as Fire/EMS/Law Enforcement during emergencies. While these upgrades to our aging infrastructure where necessary, they come with increased licensing and maintenance costs.

Klamath 911 has struggled to recruit staff for this increasingly challenging job. As the public has more ways to reach emergency assistance with text to 911, and automatic crash detection systems in vehicles and mobile devices our call volume has increased 11% in the last five years.

Without this revenue the 911 District will not be able to maintain necessary staffing levels, equipment and planning for advancing technologies.

Measure 18-133

Shall the District pass a Levy of $0.82 per $1,000 for Five Years for Fire & EMS Services

Beginning FY2024/2025? This measure may cause property taxes to increase more than three percent.

Rocky Point Fire & EMS faces service reductions without the additional funds. The Districts permanent tax rate, which has not been increased since the early 1970's is not enough to sustain services to the public at the current level.

The proposed tax increase of $0.82 per $1,000 will give the District a budget of $105,410.00 for the FY2024/2025. The proposed levy if passed, will allow the District to continue current level of services, including Emergency Medical Response.

The estimated tax cost for this measure is an ESTIMATE ONLY based on the best information available from the county assessor at the time of estimate and may reflect the impact of early payment discounts, compression and the collection rate .
