Funny, but not so funny

On my way finally for the appointments set for Oct 16th and one on Oct 17th in Salem, Oregon where I am moving to and then return back to Klamath Falls, Oregon.

This trip started out like most of my other trips on Amtrak, but for some reason or another the Train 14 was running late. Not a good sign especially when I had an appointment set after the arrival of the train to Salem, Oregon, my stop as the train heads from there to Seatle, Washington.

After the train finally pulled into the Klamath Falls, Oregon station the train was close to 45 minutes late. It would be cutting it close to the time to arrive in Salem, Oregon and my appointment to take a tour of an apartment I was interested in renting or moving into up in Salem, Oregon. Never did ask what the delay was, all I knew is this train was running late by close to an hour now.

It was mentioned sometimes they can catch up and get back on time. Now I was getting really worried if I would make it on time for my appointment. And the motel where I would be staying was in walking distance of the apartments where I would be taking the tour of their complex and the apartment I might want to rent and move into once I move up there to Salem, Oregon.

I called ahead and made arrangements with a taxi driver who would be picking me up in Salem, Oregon at the train station when I got there.

I met this taxi driver on my first trip to Salem and we became friends. The name of his taxi service is “Reliable Ride Taxi & Courier Service.” I called Eduardo first to let him know I was on my way and that the train was running late and if he could pick me up when I got up to Salem, Oregon. He said, “No problem and for me not to worry he would be there to pick me up when I arrived in Salem, Oregon. And that he looked forward to seeing me again.

As we were getting closer to Salem, Oregon after the stop in Eugene, Oregon I was trying to figure out where to have Eduardo drop me off after he picked me up at the train station in Salem, Oregon. I needed to figure out if Eduardo should take me to the motel first or take me to my tour of the apartment and complex in Salem, Oregon. I needed to figure it out before I arrived in Salem, Oregon so when Eduardo picked me up, he could either take me to the motel and I could check in or have him take me with all my luggage to the appointment.

The train slowed down again near Ashland, Oregon and was about two hours behind schedule now. The train was supposed to arrive at 2:01 PM and it was getting closer after 3 PM now and my appointment was for 3:30 PM at the apartment complex. I decided to call the place where my appointment was at for the tour of the apartment complex to see if I could reschedule the appointment in the morning around 9 AM or earlier. It was set now for 9:30 and would give me time to get to my next appointment on Oct 17th at 11:00 AM after the tour. Arrived in Salem but the door never opened for me to get off the train in Salem, and the train was now heading to Portland, Oregon with me still on board.
