Family History of Tulelake- Baley's Part 4

Welcome to Baleyville

We lived on Drain 10. Grandma and Grandpa lived on Rd. 107.

Uncle Johnny and Aunt Kathy lived on Rd.107 and the end of the road. Where my Uncle Ed and Aunt Pat lived. Last of all Uncle Ronnie and Aunt Sue had transported what is referred to as a Jap house and placed it on property on same Road as Ed n Pat.

So, all the founders of Tulelake in Siskiyou County had roads named after them. Modoc County Roads were named by numbers. I never thought it was fair since my Grandparents were very early homesteaders that they had no road to honor the Baley name as did others. The road between Our home and the State Line Road is Zlabek Rd.

Therefore, I referred to our community of Aunts, Uncles and cousins as Baleyville something I developed as a freshman in high school for speech class.

So, now that I have established that I will start with Uncle Ronnie and Aunt Sue. Aunt Sue had several brothers and in order for my Uncle Ronnie to even date my Aunt Sue Ronnie had to fight every one of her brothers.

So, he did. Growing up I was kind of close to Aunt Sue, I even babysat for her when I was just 8 years. I stayed with Ricky while Aunt Sue went grocery shopping. I was very nervous but it made me feel special in any case. If my memory serves me right, they were still turning the Jap house into a home.

Back then the farmers would transport the house from the Japanese internment camp to various properties around the basin. Some made them into homes, some used them for storage on their farms, some used them for other reasons. I believe some of them were even made into classrooms.

What do I know these are just vague memories I have as a child.

Aunt Kathy used to bring her children to our house and vice versa. My mother and Aunt Kathy spent a lot of time with each other when I was little.

Every once in awhile we would go to Aunt Pats they always had the state of the art newest neat stuff. They even had an indoor swimming pool.
