Growing up in a small town-Lanie Baley P4

Alturas was my first experience meeting someone who had prostheses for legs and arms only she would like to take them off in the schoolyard and swing without them on. It kind of freaked me out but I was also intrigued by it too.

Moved back to Tule…….

Eventually a newer drugstore came, came into play where Clayton's department store used to be.

Living on Drain 10 was kind of con-venient and special in a way cuz I could go out and catch the recreation bus on the way to Molin Oregon where the swimming pool was at. The bus usually left from the Park in Tulelake. I remember the older guys my brother's age they always wanted me to come sit in their lap or they were going to marry me when I grew up and it was nothing bad or sexual or anything like that it was just I don't know they like they were my brother's friends and I was kind of a lonely type of shy little girl so maybe cuz they knew I was shy and it would make me feel better but that's probably one of the reasons I started having boy-friends at a really young age too.

By the time I was in fourth grade I was kind of homely My mom let me grow my hair out and I had to wear glasses. I had the pointiest glasses you've ever seen in your life and they made me ugly of course I might have already been homely but they made me even uglier.

Already having low self-esteem you can imagine what that did to my self ima. No matter what grade I was in I still had the same friends Ellie's Carol Carol and Cindy now Cindy was in a grade above me and she got a lot of guff from her friends for hanging out with somebody in a lower grade.

I played on the monkey bars with the guys cuz I thought I could show them up even though I was smaller than all of them. I was pretty small when I was 5 years old I wore a size three dress.

At that age you don't realize that
