Growing up in a small town-Lanie Baley

The thing about growing up in a small town ironically another girl was born on the same day I was and her name starting with an "L" as well

Her parents owned the only supermarket in town, so I guess that's why she thought she was better than everybody else. Competition with her proved to arise after we were in a certain grade since we both had birthdays on the same day she became competitive.

I didn't want it to be that way cuz I wanted her to join me on our birthday. As I always invited her to whatever I had going on in a lot of times my birthday came during the Butte Valley Fair, she was the one who made it competitive as she failed to invite me to the birthday events that she had planned for herself. Now moving on…

I think this needs to be mentioned before I move on too much further I said they had the only supermarket in town but there were two other grocery stores in town when I was little. When I spent time with my grandma, we went to what I referred to as the corner store across from the Jolly Cone. Grandma would always buy me something from that store. The other store (I can't remember the name of it) had a butcher named Joe and we did a lot of our grocery shopping there. Eventually these two grocery stores went out of business.

Maybe the supermarket put them out of business I don't know I was just a kid what did I know I just know that when I went to go visit my Dad those two stores were not there anymore. Just a short reminder that my dad was Bill Baley.

My mother worked at the only drug store that was in town which was next to the supermarket for a while at that time. After that maybe even before that I'm not sure I don't remember my
